Knowledge and Practices of Hand Washing among Health Professionals in Dubti Referral Hospital, Dubti, Afar, Northeast Ethiopia
This article is all about hand washing and rubbing together of all surfaces and crevices of the hands using a soap or chemical and water. Hand washing should be performed after arriving at work, before leaving work, between client contacts, after removing gloves, when hands are visibly soiled, before eating, after excretion of body wastes (urination and defecation), after contact with body fluids ,before and after performing invasive procedures ,and after handling contaminated equipment. The exact duration of time required for hand washing depend on the circumstances. A washing time of 10 to15 seconds is recommended to remove transient flora from the hands. Nosocomial infections due to poor hand hygiene are a major of increasing morbidity, mortality, and health care costs among hospitalized patients worldwide. The high prevalence of these infections, as high as 19%, in developing countries poses a challenge to health care providers. According to World Health Organization (WHO)introduced "My five moments for hand washing" to minimize problems related to hand washing. These five moments that call forth use of hand washing include the moment before touching a patient, before performing aseptic and clean procedures, after being at risk of exposure to body fluids, after touching a patient, and after touching patient surroundings

COVID‐19 Hangover: A Rising Tide of Alcohol Use Disorder and Alcohol‐Associated Liver Disease
COVID19 has impacted many people in many ways. More so the vulnerable populations than any other. Those with a suppressed immune system are at a high risk for having complications when infected with COVID. I have a friend who went through AA and some people in the program are relapsing and a few have committed suicide. This tragic impact of not being able to meet in person with health care providers and get the support, seeing friends for support which is so needed in the mental health field is causing such tragedies all over. As this article states (Da, 2020) "the injurious effect of COVID‐19 on the liver, the inability to attend regular visits with providers, diversion of hospital resources, and social isolation leading to psychological decompensation and increased drinking or relapse." This pandemic has been detrimental for those who suffer with addiction. We need to be reaching out to our friends and loved ones to make sure they are ok in these difficult times. Being a support system for anyone not only those who suffer from addiction but those who are alone and not asking for help. Reach out to someone who you haven't spoken to in a while, little things like this can do so much good in the world.
