The owner of Nashville has filed a lawsuit of $75 million.  The jury of Nashville decided to award Erin Andrews $55 million against the original demand of $75 million.  During Erin Andrews stay in Marriott international Nashville, the sportscaster was filmed changing her clothes (Azriel, 2016). The sport caster was emotionally broken due to her naked video that has surfaced online.  In 2008, the sports reporter was a well-known personality working for ABC News and ESPN. When confronted about the case she broke down in front of the jury when the video was shown in front of the full court,  The management of the hotel in their defense sad that the hotel was a joint venture of west end hotel partners and Marriott was just a franchise and acted an individual company. So according to the management of the Marriott international, they were not to be blamed.

Incident

     A stalker known as Michael David Barnett was staler who used to follow the social media account of Andrews. The staler also captured videos of other women who were well-known personalities (Azriel, 2016). The stalker used to release these uncut videos of famous personalities to get money. Things started to turn upside down for the stalker when Andrews decided to go the extra mile. Andrews filed a strong lawsuit against the stalker and also against the hotel she was in. the stalker served a jail time of 2 and a half years and the jury decided to provide Andrews with 55 million dollars as a result of post-traumatic stress

Consequence

The consequences were severe in this case. People no longer felt safe visiting high profile hotels, since the invasion of privacy was at stake. The jury decided to warn all the cybercriminals and online stalkers who found pleasure in destroying the lives of people. A clear message was sent to the people of the United States that no one is above the law (Pieron and Smith, 2017).   This case was similar to recent allegations that were made in Hilton hotel rooms.  A woman who is a lawyer by profession was in New York to get give her New York bar exam and stayed in Hampton Inn, New York. The women came to know about her invasion of privacy when her naked shower video was uploaded in various pornographic sites. The victim started getting unknown emails from people who demanded explicit images from her. Thus the women filed a lawsuit against the entire chain of Hampton inn demanding a compensation of 100 million dollars.

2008 was really a bad day year for sportscaster Erin Andrews.  The women faced a stalking incident, in which she was filed in Marriott international changing her clothes (Agag and El-Masry, 2016). After this incident, the entire nation was stunned and feared to go into fancy hotels. The invasion of privacy was hampered and the omen went into depression and anxiety. Erin Andrews is a public figure, who was stalked in Nashville. The stalker named Michael David Barret videotaped Andrews from the peephole present in his room.   According to the jury, the hotel management played a significant contribution of the nude of Erin Andrews that was surfaced online.  In the opinion of the Nashville jury, the hotel knowingly placed the David Barret at a room that was just beside the sports reporter.  David Barret confirmed with the hotel management about her reservation in the hotel room and at the right opportunity filmed her undressing and posted the video in the World Wide Web.

Consequence

    When Erin Andrews found out about her nude video that has surfaced online. She immediately filed a lawsuit against the man who posted the video online and also the chain of management that was responsible for the harassment. Andrews sued the Marriott international for the invasion of privacy, negligence and emotion stress. After this, the FBI investigated the case and Michael David Barret faced trail informant of the jury of Nashville. The jury after hearing both the parties namely the defendant and the convicted passed a judgment in the favor of Andrews.  The convicted known as Michael David barred was sentenced to two and half year in prison and after the guilty admitted that he was a stalker that followed Andrews religiously (Emir et al, 2016). The man admitted stalking Andrews in other locations also.

    After this most of the hotels tighten their security for check-in guests.  Hotels now needed to make sure that privacy was maintained from the check-in of a guest to check out.  Andrews released an official statement to local news reports of Nashville saying that incident had caused her to post-traumatic stress and this is an incident that will stay with her for a lifetime. She only wishes that other women have to go through these horrific happenings that she has gone through.  The jury also found the hotel guilty for comprising the security of Andrews. In 2016 the jury summoned 55 million US dollars to Andrews as compensation for her invasion in privacy.
