Professor and class,
I believe that the NASW Code of Ethics and the Christian worldview do align. The Code of Ethics defines the core values of social work, and include the value of service, social justice, the dignity and worth of a person, the importance of relationships, integrity, trustworthiness, and remaining unbiased and nonjudgmental. The Christian worldview aligns with these values and is built on care, trust, love, and being nonjudgmental. I believe that the social worker in the video did a great job and did her best to remain unbiased and nonjudgmental. There are Christians and non-Christians who are against same sex couples, so I think that following the Code of Ethics is what is important in this situation and to remain neutral of the situation. In my opinion, I do not believe that a social worker should pick and choose who they help as clients based on their own personal beliefs.
