After watching the video on FedEX and GPAC Systems I was enlightened with new organizational systems that will make it easier to ship items and a system dedicated to public and personal safety.  The FedEX system is a mobile shipping system that pairs FedEX and on the go customers with a way to process shipments from just about anywhere.  Watching the person enter shipping information on his smart phone while riding on the bus showed the flexibility and ease of the system.  This new service by FedEX will be very cost effective for business professionals in most major cities.  With multitasking well into its second generation of Americans, I see this system as a great time filler for unproductive hours.   The GPAC system is a completely integrated information collection and with its proprietary algorithms, it allows the system to respond to specific criteria.  The example that really stuck out to me was the monitoring equipment that allowed the system to notice radioactive material in a woman’s bag at the airport.  As part of the system protocol,a video camera could be directed to capture visual data of the situation.  These processes were completely autonomous of human interaction.  The system identified a potential issue reacted, recorded, and responded by identifying the next step of interaction.  Resolving incidents before they take place.  Technology is clearly on a path to be more user integrated and reactive by completing simple steps within a process, additionally it is becoming decision oriented to resolve steps within and between process steps.  We continue to be on the cusp of helping industry to be more productive.  The key to information systems and business enterprise hardware and software is at the collection points and the specific data needed to be collected.  We have a means to get the information, but specific details of each process are being missed by programmers that will carry this to the next level.  In my current position, I struggle to get the needed information to complete simple tasks.  Forced to pull up several documents I spend a lot of time crunching unnecessary data to get to the needed information.  The fact is data’s available but the needed programming to pull the specific data has not been written within the framework of the program.  Hence the high level of need for programmers and other IT specialists.  Understanding the basic task is critical to top-level decision making.  With a well-written program, we can collect the necessary information and save valuable time to complete daily tasks.
