Response 4 dq 1 386

Hello Professor and Class,

For this case study I have found that the approach made was one that I would take myself.

Question #1; I believe that person centered approach was taken. The group leader went over how the clients in the group were helping one another and that the therapist and counselor were there to assist the group. In our text it mentions the establishing of common ground between the needs of members and the services offered by the offered by the agency. In one of our texts it tells us "Person-centered concept therapy reflected Roger’s belief in the equality of therapist and client in an authentic encounter and represented a rejection of the limitations of the client role in a relationship" (Dale & Smith, 2013). This gave the group a chance to better understand that this process was for them and they would be treated equally.

Question #2; As far as the life of the group and the ending I would implement during the group (life) that the members find local support groups such as Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics anonymous as well as support groups for those who have been afflicted with AIDS. I believe that it is vital to clients that they are able to find other groups that they can connect with while still receiving services as I know that the group or services will come to an end. It is our responsibility as Social Workers to set up clients up for success and get to a place where they have benefited from our services but no longer need the. The first line of the preamble of the NASW code of ethics tells us "The primary mission of the social work profession is to enhance human well-being and help meet the basic human needs of all people, with particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty" (NASW 2021).

Thank you,

Jacklyn
