Part 1 - Challenges and Barriers for U.S. Hospitals:

The selected article, “corruption in the health sector,” by Glynn. The corruption evident in the health sector has impacted patient safety and the quality care delivery process because the misuse of the available resources has a negative impact on the progress affecting the output level. Some clinicians are not familiar with the practice and the concepts of evidence-based medicine, which affect how they undertake some of the tasks. The first takeaway is that lack of adequate knowledge on the provision of services and handling of patients affects the level of productivity where the results are not achieved within the required stipulations (Glynn, 2022). Secondly, the knowledge of the practices to undertake in the medical sector provides background information on the appropriate measures that are significant in ensuring the smooth delivery of the tasks. This shows that embezzling the available resources in U.S. hospitals affects productivity because the service provider will be inhibited. The reading shows that there is a need to reduce corruption as it makes hospitals unable to deal with their challenges.

Part 2 - Factors that Influence in U.S. Hospital Care:

Evidence-based medicine influence the healthcare delivery processes for U.S hospitals because the high quality of service provision helps to determine the best practices for patient care which impacts the level of outputs.  For example, mismanagement of time of practice of good evidence-based medicine affects the provision of service where there are conflicting evidence on the tasks undertaken and the appropriate measures to guarantee the sufficient provision of services. Another example is the inappropriate use of the concepts of evidence-based medicine, where there is inadequate adherence to the medical practices exercised, which affects the output level (Siwek, 2018). Healthcare providers ought to ensure that all the services are offered to the patients, encouraging an influx of patients into the facility and improving the service provision. The U.S hospitals should ensure that all the services are adequately administered, which would facilitate the improved relationship between healthcare providers and the patients visiting the facility.

Part 1 - Challenges and Barriers to U.S. Hospitals

After reading several articles and publications the article I chose focuses on the challenges that hospitals face after the pandemic. There are several that are many different issues that hospitals face. Many issues that hospitals face are staffing shortages, optimizing clinical workflows, medical information and exchange, and medical advancement (Wolters Kluwer, 2022). The quality of healthcare during the height of the pandemic and after with staffing shortages. Staffing shortages are an issue that affects the quality of care that the patients will receive from the facility. The two major areas that affect staffing shortages are burnout and retirement. The nursing profession is especially difficult to recruit and retain and there are predictions that the shortage will intensify within the next year (Wolters Kluwer, 2022). The medical information on an electronic healthcare record (EHR) does not always work with other facilities and not all the patient information has been recorded in the patient chart. My interpretation of this article makes me think that the more issues the organization has with keeping and hiring staff, the more problems can arise.

Part 2 - Factors that Influence U.S. Hospital Care: Clinical Practice Guidelines

Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) are intended to optimize the care that patients receive during evidence-based treatment. CPGs are for the improvement of care for patients while discouraging any potentially harmful decisions made by the physician (Guerra-Farfan et al., 2022). “Despite frequent updates and continuing efforts to implement clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) through a variety of strategies, compliance with CPGs remains insufficient” (Sasaki et al., 2020).  One CPG is the use of EHR in the practice of patient medical records. I have worked at an office that keeps digital images, periodontal charting, and dentition charting for the patient, but the main treatment notes are all written on a paper chart and then placed in a patient chart. Having digital records make the notes and charting a standardized process that all in the office can follow when trying to work with multiple or other practices. For example, when we see patients in the office and the patient needs to see a specialist for a root canal treatment we send a copy of the digital radiographs that were taken in the clinic to the specialist's office the patient is going to for treatment. If the private practice did not have digital imaging then the patient would have to have another image taken before treatment could begin.
