Technology advancement has made to create a massive amount of data on the internet and this data is being utilized by billion of users in a day. But if you observe some applications are faster to use while some other applications are slow. This happens when there is no net neutrality, simply net neutrality is the principle that states equal internet communication to everyone irrespective of any discrimination of favoring or blocking some sites, or speed internet service to only certain applications.

Generally running a start-up or a small scale industry is hard as there would be low financial support, and if the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) repeal the net neutrality rules it would get a lot tougher for the small-sized firms to continue their business successfully (Banerjea, Peter,2018). In 2015 the FCC has repealed net neutrality where the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) cannot prohibit any site or application from being accessing due to any reasons unless the content is lawful. It also prevented the ISPs from engaging with paid prioritization (creating differently priced internet packages). With this paid prioritization only the customers who pay more amount can get the premium packages so that they can access all the sites at the normal speed whereas those who pay less will access the sites with a lower speed. The larger organizations pay to the ISPs to give them more speed, and for the larger firms, it doesn’t make any difference as their revenue will be more. But for the small scale industries and startups, this would be rather challenging.

With neutrality, there is an open and free internet available to all the users at the same speed. The smaller organizations can also be developed as they cannot afford a lot more amount to the ISPs. This provides a scope for a competitive market place. The major concerns associated with net neutrality include: as the internet is open most of the users download the movies, the software’s illegal without any limitation. Moreover, net neutrality stifles the innovation as it would not be fair for the larger organization such as Netflix, Facebook, and Hulu, etc. as they had put lot more efforts for enhancing the customer services so far. There are some solutions for net neutrality that can be implemented: charging based on the content type and usage duration, giving free access to the internet and this internet should be in charge with the government so that the citizens pay for the internet in the form of taxes but can access internet open and free everywhere.

I conclude by, it is very significant to keep the internet lawful content open and free to all the users without any prioritization and preference.
