DB ONE – WEEK 1 6

1. Does television have a negative influence on society?

2. The source is a news article designed to educate people about the negative influences watching television can have on society. In the 21st century, more awareness has been given about the adverse effects of watching too many movies and shows. This is why the long term effects as well as the short term are still being studied and researched. This topic is very important because a majority of the population use television as a major source for entertainment.

3.  The author does a great job with her use of evidence to support her claims and the article is organized. She creates a sense of urgency by the facts and statistics she uses as well as her choice of words. It is interesting how she starts her article by stating television is a source of entertainment, but then refutes the statement with research conducted from studies. The source was intriguing and if more individuals read this article, they may be more persuaded to turn off the television and turn to other sources of entertainment.

4. Here is the source that I used for this discussion post.
