The purpose of this memo is to highlight the benefits of migrating to the cloud, workloads to move and why they should be incorporated. The company would befit from the migrating to the cloud as follows. First, cloud services foster scalability. The movement of company services to the cloud would help to remove physical restrictions to scalability (IBM Cloud Education, 2019). Also, this would reduce the financial restrictions that arise from adding servers and other supporting infrastructure required in the data centre. This move beneficial to the company and thus, should get considered. Secondly, migrating to the cloud is cost-effective to the company. The payment of cloud services is based on the usage capacity. The cloud services do not compare to the on-premise capacity since it offers the company flexible payment terms. Thus, it is possible to utilize the required capacity at a given time and scale up at a later time when the need for more capacity arises.
Additionally, cloud services enhance the security of the company information. The cloud provides a secure environment that adheres to the applicable standards of the industry as well as government regulations (IBM Cloud Education, 2019). Data protection in the cloud is by tools, policies and best practices that get updated regularly at a required scale. Lastly, cloud services accelerate the adoption of new technology. This aspect helps the company to conform to the latest market trends. Thus, it gains from the opportunities that come along the way. Hence, it is important to embrace this move.
Cloud migration would entail the movement of essential workloads that include; first, IaaS. This movement would allow the IT team to hire resources for basic functionality which the teams can manage through the developed configuration. The migration of PaaS is a vital move for the company as well (Pott, 2018). This helps the developer to utilize various languages that aid running applications. Thus, the movement of this service to the cloud would help to provide predictable execution environments. Also, the SaaS workload movement to the cloud would help manage security and updates for the developed applications. Therefore, this movement should be considered during the migration of company services to the cloud. It is, therefore, crucial for the company to consider these services as a bid to improve the flexibility and security of the services they offer. This move is essential and comes with lots of commercial benefits.
