1. How would you define Personality? When thinking about what personality means, the word character comes to mind. Basically, personality is the complete total of attributes one possesses. This includes a person’s attitude, reactions, the way someone acts, as well as how they respond. How does it affect a person’s public reputation? Your personality is somewhat like a representative of a person. Someone who is perceived as an outgoing, talkative person, or the life of the party would be considered as a person who everyone wants to be around due to their inviting personality. Someone who is perceived as be a loner, or not fully engaged with their peers may be considered as having a bad or unapproachable personality.
2. Discuss the differences and similarities between the 5 factors and the ocean Model of personality. The 5-factor Model and the Ocean Model of Personality are two separate models that are used to describe the behavior of others (2012). The 5-factor model represents the current description of human personality. This model explains what makes human tick (2012). Both models share the idea that they can be defined by terms or traits. Both models describe 5 broad dimensions of personality. The model can be remembered by the ACRONYM OCEAN. O stands for openness. This is the desire to try new things. C stands for Conscientiousness. This refers to how much someone is motivated. E stands for Extraversion. This Is the division of being an introvert, or an extravert. An extrovert is a person who is outgoing and apart of the scene. An introvert is someone who loves to be alone and in solitude. A stands for Agreeableness. This deals with the basic emotional style of a person. N stands for Neuroticism. This refers to the stability of the emotional state.
3. What is Emotional Intelligence and what role does it play in leadership? Emotional intelligence is being able to identify and understand one’s own emotions as well as the emotions of others. In leadership, emotional intelligence is important when maintaining relationships with school leaders, stakeholders, parents. Leaders with a high Emotional intelligence can communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and inspire their team tor create a peaceful work environment. Leaders with low Emotional Intelligence could possibly struggle to connect with their team. They have a hard time adapting to changing.
4. Discuss “Intelligence” and what role does it play in your leadership growth and development?
Intelligence is having the ability to understand the world, think rationally or logically. From a leadership standpoint, having intelligence is a major factor that impacts an individual’s growth and development. Leaders can analyze situations, identify potential obstacles, and develop strategies to achieve their goals.

1. How would you define personality ? How does it affect a person’s public reputation?
Personality can be defined as how someone presents themselves to the world and is twofold: the way the world sees someone and the way someone sees themself in the world. A public reputation is how the world sees a person based on the person’s actions and attitudes. So these two ideas are interrelated: personal belief and the public’s perception. When someone believes something about themself, they will start to act and behave in a way that supports their inner thoughts. Eventually, what someone thinks about themselves is what others will begin to see and believe about that person. You become what you think about yourself. The problem is when what you feel about yourself does not line up with how the world sees you; “research shows that there can be considerable gaps between one’s public reputation and identity, and an interesting question is whether public reputation is more important than identity or vice versa” (Huges et al., p. 168, 2021).
2. Discuss the differences and similarities between the Five Factors and the Ocean Model of Personality.
The Five-Factor and Ocean Models share five classification categories: openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. These two models are different names for the same concept: “The trait approach and the FFM or OCEAN model of personality give leadership researchers and practitioners several useful tools and insights” (Huges et al., p. 177, 2021).
3. What is Emotional Intelligence, and what role does it play in leadership?
Research suggests a “relationship between leaders’ emotions and their effects on teams and outcomes” (Huges et al., p. 184, 2021). Emotional intelligence can dictate the culture of an organization. Leaders may lack specific areas of emotional intelligence that can cause an imbalance in the organization. Strong leaders should be self-aware, know how to self-regulate, have empathy, and understand how to harness their emotions (Huges et al., p. 185, 2021). A leader who is inconsistent in their approach to staff can create a lack of trust between staff and leadership. Equally, if a leader is consistent and maintains calm under pressure, they will build trust and respect with their team over time. A leader needs to understand their emotional intelligence, specifically areas of strength and weakness.
4. Discuss “Intelligence” and what role does it play in your leadership growth and development?
As noted in the text, there are three ways that intelligence is measured: practical, analytical, and creative. Most aspiring leaders have an area where they have had more opportunities to develop one type of intelligence over the other areas. Again, leaders must know where they are strongest and find ways to create the weakest areas. As an aspiring leader, I can use my knowledge of both emotional intelligence and intelligence to develop places where I lack specific skill sets to become the leader that students need: “Organizations today are looking for leaders and followers who have the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed (practical intelligence) and the ability to learn (analytic intelligence)” (Huges et al., p. 196, 2021). A fluent background in how to use specific intelligences can help me as a leader to develop a culture that helps others grow into their potential as well as the “primary role is not so much to be creative themselves as to build an environment where others can be creative” (Huges et al., p. 200, 2021).
