The cloze text activity was definitely one of those activities, where I felt as if I were in a challenge to complete a scavenger hunt, which I love. I enjoy just about any activity where I have to find something, to complete the entirety. I scored 60% meaning that I do well at reading and comprehension on my own and showing how I can apply those skills. I think the text is more independent for me only because I love a challenge even if it gets difficult for me. I would teach this lesson by giving informational notes. To set up this technique in the lesson, I would start first by choosing a contained entry for a book or text that is both suitable length and perusing level for the age of the students.

The lesson can contain a composting component by requesting that students compose their own Cloze Procedures dependent on common content and imparting them to their classmates to work through. This activity can likewise be stretched out by requesting that students compose their own substance and make a totally unique story and Cloze methodology for the story. This weeks discussion asks for us to take the sample CLOZE test and score our results. After the difficult task of trying to figure out the missing words my score was 43.18. I only had 19 correct words selected. It also asks these questions.  What do your results indicate about your comprehension of this text?  Is this text at your independent, instructional or frustration level?  How would you teach someone like you if you were a student in your class? Based on the scaling score at the bottom of the page my score indicated that my reading comprehension is some what questionable. I had some difficulties with this reading passage because I didn't know where to begin. I struggled because I am a learner that likes to be steered into what I am asked to do. I searched our syllables for the reading of the Winter at Valley Forge passage and became a little frustrated when I didn't find it. I eventually gave up on looking due to my time that was rapidly approaching. When it comes to my score I am also said to be reading at an instructional level.  Which seemed to be a little shocking because I feel like I struggled quite a bit with filling in the correct words in the blanks. With that being said I didn't like the possibility of getting so many incorrect answers. It has definitely been a learning opportunity for me to just relax and do the best that I can. When it comes to how I would teach someone like me if they were in my class I would give the opportunity to kind of find the answers just as we did in this assignment. This builds confidence in students and it is also a way to help them trust themselves to know that although they may have never heard or read that particular passage that they can complete it by simply just trying and doing their best.

 First of all, this sample test was not supposed to be stressful at all, but I made it that because I strive for perfection. (Smiley face) I guess I should use a word a little less harsh than stressful. The test gave me some sort of anxiety while attempting to fill in the words because I just knew I'd be correct on most of the answers from my general knowledge alone. I felt so bad after I scored my answers with the answer key. 

My score was most definitely at the frustration level according to the guide. I don't think that is a direct reflection of my comprehension of the text, but it does put a dent in what I thought would've been common sense type of reasoning. When I really think about it, that was just a matter of me over-thinking something that could have been so on the surface basic. 

In order for me to teach it to someone like myself, the key thing I'd do is to remind them to think very simple and literal. One other piece of advice I'd give is to be very open minded the words around you. This was actually my first ever Cloze Test I've taken, and quite honestly hadn't heard of it before this one. It's an interesting concept that gets the reader to be really engaged in the text by completing the words themselves. This particular method definitely intrigued me and really peaked my interest to introduce it to the students I teach as a "bell ringer" type of activity to get the juices flowing mentally.
