Kimberly’s post:

When I was a Revenue Operations Manager at a call center, there was a staff member who made up stories and said false things around the office. She went so far as to inform my boss. She didn't like having me as her boss and no longer wanted to defer to me, so I assumed she had a problem with me personally. She might have wanted me fired. She continued to spread false information about me to other workers so they would think I was a terrible person. This went on for months until I had enough. I had a meeting with my supervisor about these false allegations and it appeared that my supervisor didn't care because it was just he say she say and wasn't a big ordeal to her. After dealing with this for months and feeling as if I had to walk on eggshells, I decided to reach out to Human Resources because I was about fed up and didn't want to do anything to jeopardize my job. Human Resources conducted an inquiry and found that the employee had falsified those claims to get me fired. I believe this applies to rationalist theory because she wanted other employees to see or perceive me differently based on false allegations.

Donna’s post:

My sister told us she was pregnant and we all believed her. She and the guy she supposed to be pregnant by started playing to get married and name the baby. The guy were so excited that he was having his first child and told all his friends. His parents decided they wanted to pay for a large baby shower and begin making plans. This lie grew out of control because as time went by we were looking for her stomach to get large so we could go by maternity clothes. She kept lying about everything from the hospital visits to why her stomach not getting big. This lie did takes roots and grew so big that the entire family was excited about buying baby clothes, maternity clothes, trying to come up with baby names and planning a wedding. This lie grew too big for her to try to keep up with, it kept getting out of control. This lie didn't come out too great because 7 months later there were no big stomach, no doctors appointments, and no baby kicking to feel. She later said she lost the baby but that lie got out of control also.
