When it comes to ethics and ethical behavior there will be multiple ideas. Ethics is one knowing good or bad or what’s wright and wrong. Ethical Behavior is being able to do what’s right regardless if someone there to oversee you or how does this effect your moral compass (Schermerhorn, JR. & Bachrach, 2015).

Ethical practices and corporate social responsibility is a much an issue for contemporary managers. Contemporary managers have an obligation to make profit and return for those invested. Then the other side is that they try and made on the good side of the community that there in as well it’s hard to make everyone happy at one time in business. This is when the conflict of the mangers personal values and beliefs sometimes come into play as well. In the end however it’s the corporation or business that’s priority and its obligations (Daft & Marcic , 2011).

My example of how stake holder’s decision could lead to a company’s image being negative is when movie extraordinaire Harvey Weinstein, came under fire for sexual assault and harassment. These charges made the investors take a stand. Yes, he was the founder of the company but he had partners and they did not agree with the behavior or the bad press that came with the charges against him. The company is still facing fall out from that incident, by having movies pulled and even production stopped on films that wasn’t finished.

Ethics

2, Ethics is based on individual character and behavior followed by written standards and code of conducts as well as knowing the difference between right and wrong to include the effects in cultural beliefs in diversity. Ethical behavior is conducting or acting in a manner that’s within guidelines and not causing confusion of moral code.

Ethical practices and corporate social responsibility are critical issues for contemporary managers because managers set the standards to follow in the workplace or workforce through proper training and understanding. After all, a business brand depends on the concept of right and wrong.

Example: In a business or organization, it is important that employers, leaders, and managers ensure the stakeholders are treated fairly and ethically because after all, the stakeholders are the ones that can make or break a business. Some businesses may get away for a while performing unethical behaviors or allowing certain employees to behave unethical in a cultural environment can be a down fall because again, the stakeholders holds the key to a successful business.

Week 3 Discussion

This week's required reading material was extremely informative and helpful. I could really relate to the author. I will definitely use what I learned today to continue excelling in my graduate classwork. Now I better understand why I have to read the same required assignments over again and again in order comprehend. I started to think that something was wrong with me. After reading this I see that I was definitely reading like an editor.  Studying in graduate school differs greatly from undergraduate school, and so do the study skills you will need in order to succeed. Graduate school requires an entirely different approach to studying, as there is far less rote learning involved than in undergraduate school. Whereas undergrad students "cram" for frequent exams, a graduate education emphasizes your understanding of the information more than the memorization of the information. One of the most prized skills that a graduate student can learn is how to read effectively but quickly. some students mistakenly believe that reading quickly will impair their comprehension of what they have read, but the opposite is true. Learning how to read fast actually enhances comprehension because the brain must concentrate and work harder to understand what the eyes have seen. As with any newly learned skill, practice is necessary to break old habits. While assignments before graduate school are meant to be read in full, a wise graduate student must learn how to skim in order to manage impossible demands. It is the ability to not read everything—while still reading enough—that represents success in graduate school.

“Read Like a Graduate Student, not a Mystery Fan” was very eye-opening kind of literature for me. I was also reading the paper from beginning to end and after reading this article, I can say it really make much more sense to read the abstract, introduction and conclusion from the paper first. So that when we go to read the paper we will know what to look for or if the given evidence is leading to the conclusion or not, what are the authors intention in certain paragraph. Most of all it make my reading faster when I have lot to read.

I think it was very helpful article in its entirety. I will certainly apply the technique presented by the writer in my future reading.

Also, the information about citation or quotation manager will be very helpful for me.Bottom of Form
