· When generating new ideas, I start by endeavoring to find a problem. This is followed by finding the facts, prior to the definition of the problem. Finding ideas is the forth step in the process; and it is the point at which it has already become possible to view the matter from varied perspectives. In fact, I have found myself being in a position to come-up with patterns of common elements. Thinking about solutions on the basis of similarities help analyze the problem or the issue at hand. In essence, both traditional and reverse brainstorming come-in handy and it is by combining the two that the likelihood of the best possible solution as opposed to just arriving at semi-adequate ones is enhanced (Wang, Chan, & Chow, 2017).
In case I am interacting with other people, I encourage them to diversify their viewpoints as much as possible for us to generate voluminous ideas. With all these ideas, we select what is relevant and evaluate. This is followed by planning, selling of the idea to all the legitimate stakeholders, and encouraging everyone to act on it. In case I am alone developing a good story, the steps where ideas are shared with stakeholders and that where they act may not be present. Nonetheless, the rest of the process is largely the same. In summary, the process commences with random inputs, mind mapping the ideas, and ultimately picking-up the picture (Flecken, 2011). Quality work can possible be developed if such an approach is followed.

FIRST DISCUSSION WRITE A REPSONDS:
· Part 1: Three ideas for my Final Essay
1. Brain tumors in general (different types) and the effect on children
2. Being a military Brat
3. Children in pageants
4. Living overseas
5. Being a LadyBoss (weight loss program)
Part 2: Techniques to Generate Ideas
While I was reading the required reading material, which included chapter 4 (Connell & Sole, 2013). There are many different ways to get ideas, and then look up other areas for the actual research for the above listed topics. When you begin to brainstorm it is important to read any and all types of information that you can find on the topics, use the SQ3R method when taking notes. Once you have obtained enough research information. Some topics will be harder to find any information on whereas others are easier, I would then begin to brainstorm, writing all ideas down, not discarding any ideas. When you brainstorming it is important to write all your ideas down.
Part 3: Key Elements of a Narrative
A good narrative must have certain areas that are important, to help draw the reader into the story that you are writing. Decide what the plot is going to be, once you have the plot, then you would make an outline with you required information in chronological order, then you would have the continue on with the introduction, then the main body of the essay, and then the ending. By using the above format, it is also important while writing to make sure the essay is clearly written and understandable. Once all parts of the essay is complete, read your essay and ask yourself if this is something that the reader would find interesting and would be willing to read the entire essay.

SECOND DISCUSSION WRITE A REPONDS:
· The ideas I was able to generate are as listed:
1. My Family.
2. My work life.
3. My success in getting a degree.
Coming up with my own ideas is a very difficult task for me. Writing and researching on a set topic comes much easier for me than creating or generating my own ideas. Though, the techniques explained in chapter 4 (Connell, M & Sole, K 2013) helped me come up with these ideas listed. I used a lot of the brainstorming process and writing down little things that came to mind along with using the five W’s and an H. Writing down random thoughts and picking a set few out of those ideas really seemed to help. I also put the mind map with the five W’s and an H to generate different ideas and to visually see all my thoughts. This helped in organizing my thoughts and really setting a direction for what I want to write about.
I think the key elements to a narrative essay are; getting your defined opinions across, along with having your audience feel they are living in that moment with you. I think it makes a good story when you can relate to that story or really feel that you are living in the moment of that story yourself. I have always liked the stories I can relate to and can really feel what it is the author is feeling throughout the story.
