PROJECT BACKGROUND

Purpose of the Study

Context of the Problem, Challenge Opportunity or Issue

The average salary of the teachers in the state of Ohio remains fairly flat. Districts varies widely from 20 students (Kelly’s Island) and 36,790 (Toledo). This is indicative of severe equity issues as it relates to responsibilities, workload, and compensation. Objectives of the Study

Compare the responsibilities and expectations of teachers within the various Ohio districts, to determine if the average salary is fair and equitable. [Insert any objectives in performing this research]

Limitations of the Study

Not knowing the number of teachers per districts. Also, the number of students per districts shows a big difference. [Insert any limitations you had in writing up the results]

Assumptions of the Study

Teachers with less students are being paid more than the teachers that has more and in some cause double the students in their class. [Insert any assumptions for this research]

“Teachers in the United States should be paid more because they have a challenging job, their current salaries are insufficient, and a higher salary would lead to a better quality of education. Industry implications.

Research has shown that teacher cuts during the last recession disproportionately impacted districts and schools serving students of color and students from low-income families. This also had the result of creating higher rates of teacher turnover in schools with the highest concentrations of students in poverty, further undermining their learning.
