Methodology
Sampling/Setting
One hundred and fifty patients above the age of sixty-five and suffering from Congestive Heart Failure were used in this research to investigate the effect of reduction of sodium consumption to reduce cardiac heart failure at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The center subdivides into the cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and Arrhythmia Syncope divisions. The center provides multiple supporting services, including Percutaneous coronary angioplasty, cutting balloon angioplasty, cardiac catheterization, coronary peripheral stenting, pacemaker implants defibrillator, retaliator atherectomy, and electrophysiology, to name a few. The hospital gathers the efforts of various highly trained professionals that specialize in cardiology and heart-related issues to treat patients of the majority age of sixty-five and above with cardiac complications.
Sampling Strategy
To include individuals selected according to the inclusion-exclusion criteria, Convenience sampling will be used, reflecting the number of people identified in the question. Admissions will be checked for eligible patients, those diagnosed with HF not later than three months before being discharged. Patients diagnosed later than three months, diagnosed secondarily of HF, terminally ill patients, and those who did not consent will be exempted. Two hundred people, divided into two groups, serve as the sample for the research.
Research design
The design used is a quantitative quasi-experimental pre-test post-test study to assess the aftermath of intervention on Congestive Heart Failure patients. According to the Quasi-experimental design, only one group will have the intervention, which is thorough teaching on the prevention of cardiac heart failure by reducing sodium consumption. Gray et al. (2017) A design of the pretest-posttest was used to support this research in both groups. The results proved a complete focus on reducing salt consumption in patients with Congestive Heart Failure impacts the reduction of the readmission rate (Song & Chung, 2010). The theoretical framework, research problem, and literature review let off the design.
Extraneous Variables
The exclusion-inclusion criteria are used to control undesired variables. The exclusion criteria round out the individuals that are not valid to the study to keep results neutral. In contrast, the Inclusion Criteria is used to include valid individuals for the experiment through age and discharge period.
Inclusion Criteria: patients holding a less than six-month diagnosis of heart failure and are discharged serve as the samples for this experiment. A formal agreement by the patient to be used in the experiment is required before proceeding.
Exclusion Criteria: patients discharged from the hospital after being diagnosed with Heart failure for greater than six months. Those who chose to be excluded from the experiment fall under the exclusion criteria.
