Research proposal for Big data

· Abstract

The paper will start with an abstract that will be giving a brief to the readers about big data and what will be discussed in the paper. The abstract will shed light on the definition of big data, what the paper will entail and how it is important for the readers to grasp the concepts of big data in regard to business operations.

· Introduction

This is preparing the reader to start off the reading of the entire paper about big data. It is important in this section to provide a definition of big data which is, “a bulk of voluminous information that needs high costs and innovations so that it is processed and eventually bring an insight on how proper decisions can be made regarding the data”. The introduction will also shed light on the extent to which big data is currently being applied in the business world and this will involve using research and peer-reviewed resources to identify the statistics about the usage of big data and even name some of the organizations.

Thesis statement: “This paper explores all the details of the big data spectrum, including information garnered from devices that use internet like laptops and smartphones, video and voice recording, social media, machine data and continued logging and preservation of both structured and unstructured data”.

· The history of Big Data

It is important for the readers of the paper to understand when the story of big data begun and how it was viewed back then. Therefore, in this section, there will be provision of when the term big data was first coined, who coined it, where it was coined and what made them come up with such a term that had never existed before. It will also include the numerous breakthroughs that have been seen in big data in the 2000s in the computing powers and storage capacity.

· Current trends in the usage of Big Data

People also need to understand how big data is being used currently and what is at stake in its trends. It should be noted that in the current economic and non-economic operations, there is a continuous increase in the data volume and it is apparent that the data volume keeps doubling every year. This section will seek to prove how the data storage capacities have been increasing continuously and this section will be supported by heavy research from reliable sources of information.

· The impact of Big Data on trade, businesses and commerce

This is the major focus of the paper. We have to examine why big data is important to be discussed in the first place. Then there will be need to look at how it has been impacting businesses in general and ascertain how beneficial it has been to the businesses so far. This section will also include the real life examples like amazon, Google, the weather forecasting companies and other small retail organizations that are trying to embrace the usage of big data.

· Challenges in the usage of Big Data

Big data has a lot of challenges due to the fact that it requires high technological speed and this calls for high usage of power as well as well-skilled personnel to handle the data analytics. This and many challenges will be discussed in the main paper.

· Conclusion and summary

This section will involve giving a conclusion of the paper and a summary statement as well as the restating of the thesis statement.
