Research Proposal
Preview of Research Proposal
To help with your planning, here is a preview of the Research Proposal assignment.
Choosing a Topic
· Think of an ethical dilemma related to your major or career goals.
· You can choose a topic that has been in the news for a while, such as climate change or gun control, or you may find it interesting to research a newly emerging topic, such as cultural appropriation, artificial intelligence, or issues arising from the Covid-19 pandemic. It can also work to choose a topic connected to a specific job, such as how psychologists should approach ___, how real estate brokers should approach ___, etc.
· A good resource is the Opposing Viewpoints in Context (Links to an external site.) site, which lists about 500 possible topics. Another idea is to visit sites that cover news and debates related to your major or career goals.
Questions
Your proposal grade will be based on the detail and thoroughness of your answers to the following questions. Answer each prompt in 6-8 sentences.
1. What ethical dilemma have you chosen? Why is it controversial?
2. Why does this topic interest you? How does it relate to your college major or career goals? (Criminal Justice)
3. What are a few key issues you hope to explore in your research?
