As a for-profit investor, I have an idea to raise money to open a restaurant. The purpose of this restaurant is not only for making money, but also more for helping people. For this paper, you will be social entrepreneurs who have decided to create a social purpose business. You will develop a plan for the creation of this social purpose business including what legal structure this business will have, how you plan to raise capital, how you will assess the social impact of your business, etc. As part of the paper, you will declare at the outset who your paper / presentation is meant for - e.g. a for profit investor, a nonprofit investor, your board of directors, policy makers, etc.

Below is a list of questions that your project should address. Keep in mind, this list is not exhaustive and is meant to set the minimum requirements for your work product.

1. How will your structure the business: traditional or modified for-profit or charity; benefit corporation, social purpose corporation, L3C, social primacy company, other?

2. Why did you choose the form you chose?

3. Why did you not select the other forms listed above?

4. What will your purpose(s) be? What will the priorities be? How will you know?

5. How will you make decisions about resources when conflicts among purposes arise?

6. What type of accountability will you depend on: social, owner, legal? Why and why not?

7. How will you raise financial capital for the enterprise in start up and growth phases of the business?

8. How will you assess social impact of your endeavor?

9. How will you treat harms associated with the enterprise?

10. What policy concessions will you want to advance your enterprise?

11. Why?

12. What impact will those concessions have on other businesses?

13. Are the concessions worth it?
