Unit 3 – Internationalism Research Project
To what extent should internationalism be pursued?
ASSIGNMENT:
In Groups of 2-3 you will select one topic from Unit 3 and create an informative presentation. These will be presented to the class and consist of:
a. An approximately 15 minute presentation about your topic. (no less than 10)
b. This presentation should include more than just information on slides (ie. Videos, games, activity for the class, etc)
c. A retrieval (information) sheet for classmates to use while you are presenting your topic- VERY IMPORTANT
Process:
1. Select a topic from the list provided
2. Conduct further library research (using encyclopedias, books, appropriate websites, journals, etc)
3. Create a 15 minute PowerPoint on your topic
4. Create a retrieval chart - Pick out the important concepts that your classmates will need to have in their notes (you are teaching your classmates – what information is required)
5. Present to class on the date indicated
What should be included?
1. Background - history of the issue/organization (5Ws may be helpful here)- what kind of organization is it? (unilateral, bilateral, multilateral, etc.)
2. Positives and negatives of organization (pros/cons)- are there criticisms about it?
3. Why is this issue/organization significant or important?
4. Major individuals and groups involved and their points of view
5. The most current news stories available on the topic (see CBC News in Review or other news broadcasters)
6. Links to unit of study- using your topic to answer

7. Include any maps, charts, graphs, timelines and photos that will help to support your presentation
8. Activity for the class
9. Your presentation can include link to news clips or short video clips that can be accessed at school from the internet, as well as film clips from the school library. You must make sure prior to your presentation date that all video clips, images, etc will run on the computer in the classroom.
10. Your last slide MUST be a properly formatted reference sheet.
