FCS 2270 – Housing
Individual Research Presentation
50 points
Each student will complete a presentation of a topic related to housing; topics will be approved by the instructor. Two visual aids will be used (one must be Powerpoint – submit on D2L Discussion Board and D2L Dropbox). Class discussion questions to reinforce the topic will be included by each student. A minimum of 4 references will be utilized and cited to support the chosen topic (2 references must be professional, research journals). Relate your topic to (at least 2) housing challenges in Chapter 12.
Organization ________/ 10 pts. Arrangement of ideas clearly related to topic, well organized with introduction, body, conclusion, good t4transitions; shows evidence of practice and preparation; enthusiasm during presentation shown on slides
Material ________/ 10 pts. Content credible, relevant, sufficient, evidence supported topic, content appropriate to situation and audience, information sources accurately cited (APA); at least 4 references utilized and cited correctly throughout slides and on Reference slide (2 scholarly journals; may also use books; credible web-based materials); plan as if you were presenting for 12 -15 minutes in front of a live audience
Analysis __________/ 10 pts. Critical thinking employed in examining the material, points sufficiently explained, elaborated upon, and supported, clear that an adequate amount of time thinking about the presentation and the points made. Explains housing topic: where it originated (if applicable), what need it has satisfied, how does it help/hurt society, trends, policies. Impact on individuals, families, and communities elaborated upon. Devote d one Powerpoint slide to explaining the relationship between your topic and housing challenges (Chapter 12) Related your topic to at least two housing challenges.
Effective use of Visual Aids ________/ 10 pts. Used at least two visual aids (one must be Powerpoint – submit copy on D2L Discussion Board & D2L Dropbox); professional-looking, free of errors, information clear and uncluttered, referred to the aid; video clips used should not be longer than 3 minutes (videos must be hyperlinked with text title; no URL addresses should be visible in Powerpoint)
Class Discussion Questions ________/ 10 pts. Used class discussion questions (at least 3) to reinforce topic and stimulate interest. These will provide classmates with the opportunity to discuss the various topics on the D2L Discussion Board.
