Guidelines and Rubric for Evaluating the Research Plan

Research Plan (10%) – Due Week Three

The research plan will be evaluated on the following basis:

1-2 sentences for each point.

Working Topic EXPLAIN what you are focusing on and where you initially stand on the issue:	/10
Brief Introduction EXPLAIN why do you believe this topic is important for the audience? What do you already know about it? Explain your personal experience, interest or background on the topic.	/10
Research Question and Methods Formulate a preliminary guiding research question: How do you plan to answer this question? Make sure to specify your particular plan/approach (i.e. specific secondary research, specific popular and scholarly sources, specific databases, websites, journals, etc.)	/10
Sources List two sources you have already identified. Make sure they are relevant to your topic. 1. 2. Explain in what section of your paper (situation/blame/cure/cost you will use them.	/10
