RESEARCH PAPER ERRORS
1. Primary Sources are the actual words of a participant or observer of an event or issue assigned in the paper you were assigned. Many of you have employed secondary or tertiary sources. You were to select from the two primary sources. The text book is not a primary source, it is a control source. You need to find two primary sources.
2. If your primary source provides five how’s I want five sentences describing the data presented. 3. Paragraph eleven is the selection between the two primary sources. A. If you are selecting a source you state, “According to my research and reflection X Source correctly defines the material to my satisfaction. Therefore, this is my defense of my selection.” B. If neither of the primary sources satisfies your criteria to understand the subject assigned you state, “According to my research and reflection no one source correctly defines the material to my satisfaction. Therefore, this is my interpretation of the material assigned from the sources I selected.” 4. If you are defending a source you will provide three reasons in sentence form why you picked the source selected and two reasons why the other source was inferior. 5. If you are interpreting the data you present your why for the event or action, the how’s in the order you perceive them and the result from your study of the data. Often a combination of the data causes a student to perceive a different out come to the event or action assigned.
