Directions: You are to write a 1,400-word (minimum) research paper that adheres to the steps and guidelines below.

1. You are to pick any of the theories that are covered in your book. The theories are discussed in models 4 – 7. This theory will be the topic of this paper.

2. When I grade this paper, I expect to read some summarization of your sources. However, I am primarily grading your ability to state how the material that you are writing about supports/provides evidence of what your theory claims causes crime.

3. Use the Library’s online databases to find a minimum of 4 scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles that supports/provides evidence of what your theory claims causes crime.

4. You must use in-text citations in the APA style.

5. The last page (this is not part of your word count) must be a reference page in the APA style.

The overall goal of this paper is for you to convince me that your sources provide support to your theory!

1. Constantly remind the reader why/how the information from the scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles supports your theory. Feel free to write things such as: “this supports my theory because…” throughout the entire paper.

2. Avoid: “…blah, blah, blah…boring summary of the material from your journal articles …blah, blah, blah…there are no statements here that supports my theory…”

The following will lead to an automatic F

1. Writing 800 or fewer words.

2. Not including any in-text citations.

3. Not including a reference list.
