Research Paper and Outline

This is an academic research and writing assignment. This can be completed individually or in a pair (assignments with 3 members will not be accepted). You are required to research and write on one of the following OB topics and relate it to the course:

1. The right mix between individual personality (of employees), organizational culture and leadership style (of managers) leads to a more productive work environment. Complete the Myers-Briggs self-assessment. Conduct (academic) research that will help you to analyze the work environment that best suits you. This is a self-assessment (you can use personal pronouns in your paper but the language of your paper must be as formal as a research paper).

*I CHOOSE THIS ONE

2. Imagine you are a Human Resources Manager that has just been hired by a large, established company to unlock the ‘mystery’ of engaging and motivating millennial employees. You have certain constraints: you can’t just use salary increases (budgets are limited) and you have a multi-generational workforce (you can’t change the company completely). Complete a formal proposal of the solution you will submit to senior management. Use (academic) research to formulate and provide credibility to your arguments.

(Do not use personal pronouns – this is a formal document)

3. A lack of diversity in the workforce continues to be an issue in Canada. Consider the following:

· Employees have extensive legal protection from discrimination.

· Diversity is considered one of Canada’s strongest and well-embraced values.

· Many major companies recognize the importance of diversity and now have a CDO (Chief Diversity Officer).

However, discrimination (in all it’s forms: age, race, culture, gender, etc) persists. Why is this so? What tools can CDOs (Chief Diversity Officer) use to establish genuine diversity in their organizations? Using (academic) research, write a formal research paper about this topic. You can consider one specific form of diversity/discrimination or diversity/discrimination, as a general topic. (Do not use personal pronouns – this is a formal document)

The length of the paper should be around 1500 words.

Your paper will be evaluated based on your critical thought, your writing organization and style and your level of research (see attached rubric). Please incorporate all elements discussed in the Research and Writing Tutorial.

You must use proper APA citations to reference your work. For a paper of this length, you must cite at least 3 academic sources such as peer-reviewed journals. You analysis must be based on these 3 (or more) academic sources. The sources you use must be cited and used throughout your work.

You will submit your paper on Blackboard

Research Paper Outline

The outline (3%) should be 1 page in length detailing your specific topic (not the general topic listed above) and thesis, the references that you will use and a summary of what each reference will be used for. Please hand this is as a hard copy. It must be submitted at the beginning of class. Late submissions will not be accepted.
