Researchaproblemrelatedtothecity.docxResearch a problem related to the city that you focused on for the city report. Argue for a solution to the problem. (For instance, a problem related to Detroit is the poor quality of many of the public schools.)
The proposal must be a three to four page report. It must use some preliminary research to establish that the problem or issue is a recognized one. Do not write the full research paper, though! You are not solving or arguing for a solution in the research proposal; you are just setting up the topic, the scope, and the plans. Be sure to document your research sources. You may use quotes or a summary from the research, but don't let this be a major percentage of the report. I'm interested in your own understanding of the issue or problem.
Structure and Content
Please see page 356 of your textbook for an explanation of the components.
Use the following section headings in your proposal. Add subheadings if needed. Remember that sections of reports are generally made up of more than one paragraph.
· Provide a brief introduction to the project. (Do not use a heading for this.)
· Background (your topic and focus)
· Qualifications (explanation of your connection to the topic)
· Research Plan
· Schedule
· Conclusion (Indicate any problems that might impede your ability to do a good research paper on the topic and request approval of the project and plans)
Try to be specific in the schedule and include as many tasks related to writing the research paper as you can think of.
