Study Work

· Develop literature overview about the topic/thematic field of Master`s thesis and present results in Weeks 12, 13, 14 (03.12; 10.12.; 17.12.2020)

· Report needs to be formatted according to «Formatting and style guidelines for study and graduate papers» (can be found in ORTUS)

· Minimum volume of the report – 10 pages.

· Minimum amount of analyzed literature sources – 10; maximum – not determined.

Literature overview

· A literature overview is a comprehensive summary of previous research on a topic. The literature

review surveys scholarly articles, books, and other sources relevant to a particular area of research.

· Literature overview is a general term used to describe any summary of the literature. The degree of systematicity may vary, and there may or may not be clear selection criteria, quality assessment and synthesis methods. Nowadays, it is used to correctly denote a collection of literature of any quality.

Introduction

Research problem

· A research problem is a statement about an area of concern, a condition to be improved, a difficulty to be eliminated, or a troubling question that exists in scholarly literature, in theory, or in practice that points to the need for meaningful understanding and deliberate investigation.

· Research gap

Research object and subject

· Research object is an object or phenomenon that exists in the material world and is not affected by human activity. It is also part of the knowledge that a scientist (or student) is working on. Often the object is tightly connected with the topic but does not duplicate it.

· Research subject is used to mean certain properties of research object. The analysis cannot include all aspects of the object, so you need to immediately choose a specific one and devote all research to it.

The aim of the research

· The aim of the research is set by the author based on the topicality of the topic and the research problem. The formulation of the aim must be short and specific.

Research question

· Research question is specified aim of the research, which describes, what will be researched.

· Well defined research question is basis for successful result of research.

· Examples of research questions

· What are the characteristic elements of…?

· What are influencing factors of…?

· What is the interconnection among the elements/influencing factors?

· What are the main obstacles/challenges of…?

Research source selection process

· Describe the research source selection process:

· Databases

· Key words

· Filters – publication time, thematic field, etc.

· Title sift, abstract sift, full-text sift – show the diagram of selecting sample.
