Overview

For the first part of the assignment you are required to write an outline proposal for systematic literature on a topic of your choosing that is relevant to your programme area.

Submission requirement :

1- Develop a paper using the template providing to include :

1- A brief review of the relevant literature relation to specific issue relevant to your program area

2- A statement of a research question arising from the reviewed literature

3- Eligibility criteria of research to include in the review

· Types of article- Paper -book Etc.

· Types of case study-trial-experimentation

· Types of evaluation - outcomes- finding you are interested in

4-search strategy (including potential source and search terms) identifying clearly what each source will help you to achieve (e.g locate background material, case studies ,evaluation metrics etc)

4- The paper should be between 2500-3000 words.

· The background / review of existing literature should contribute at least 1500 words.

· You are required to include at least one quotation from, one paraphrase and one summary of a literature source in your background / review section you are required to use separate source for each of these.

· Correct citation and referencing is required using the Harvard referencing system so outlined in the DIT Guide to the Harvard system.

2- Submit a safeAssing report for your paper together with a response to any issue identifying:

· If the issue raised by SafeAssign is one of common terminology used in the field

· That you he addressed this in your final submission and how you have chosen to address this

Part (2)

Overview

For the second part of your assignment you are required to demonstrate your ability to locate and document research using the academic resources available to you. You are required to :

1.  Locate the following papers using the DIT academic resources:

· A relational model of data for large shared data banks, E. F. Codd, Communications of the ACM, 1970

· A spiral model of software development and enhancement, B. Boehm, IEEE Computer 1982

· Knowledge management: where did it come from and where will it go?, K. Wiig, Expert Systems and Applications 1987

· The cathedral and the bazaar, E. Raymond, Knowledge, Technology and Policy 1992

Document your search strategy. You may use Google or Google Scholar to find more details on the paper but that cannot be the search strategy you submit.

 

2. For each paper generate a correct citation as it would appear in a reference list in the following formats

a. Harvard

b. Chicago

c. IEEE

d. Vancouver

3. Locate an electronic copy of each paper and document your strategy for this.

4. For each author above, locate one other publication they have written where they have collaborated with someone else. Document your findings by generating a citation as it would appear in a reference list using the Harvard referencing scheme.

Submission requirement

Develop a single report include:

1. Your search strategy for finding each paper via the DIT academic resources.

2. Your strategy for locating an electronic copy of each paper.

3. The correctly formatted citations for the papers as they would appear in a reference list (for all three schemes required).

4.  A publication for each author on which they have collaborated with someone else. Including a fully formatted citation in the Harvard referencing scheme.
