Overview you are required to demonstrate your ability to organise your reading, comprehension and critical analysis of sources you are using. You are required to build the following two literature review matrices for the sources you reviewed in preparation for your literature review proposal for Part I of the continuous assessment:

The first should be completed for each source as you read and analyse it:

Literature Review Matrix

Author/Paper  Title

Publication Details

What type of article is it?

What is the main issue/problem being discussed?

What can this paper help you achieve?

Include quotes or paraphrases as needed

Is the author particularly famous? Highly referenced?

Make a note of how you judge this e.g. number of citations in Google

What methods are used to carry out research?

Are they appropriate?

Any limitations of work/design?

Are results in keeping with the design?

Are the results well displayed and clear?

Are the results evaluated ? both in the context of the paper and the wider body of literature

Is the paper consistent and coherent?

NOTE: In this matrix you need to include all the papers you reviewed during your search for research to include in your submission for part I.

The second should be completed as part of your critical analysis to see how sources help you establish points you wish to make in your paper and to compare and contrast papers:

For this matrix, you need to include the papers you use in your submission for part I. You need to include full publication details for each source. You should include paraphrases, summaries and quotes that you could use to support the points you are making.
