RES-861-BackgroundoftheProblem.docx

The Background of the Problem section in Chapter 2 identifies, based on prior research, the gap or need that informs the topic and problem statement for the research study. Discuss the research gap you have identified for your dissertation study. How does this gap inform the problem statement of the study? How does the problem statement, in turn, inform the theoretical foundation you select for the study? How do the problem statement and theoretical foundation inform the development of content for the study’s literature review?

As earlier mentioned, the dissertation will primarily focus on addressing a gap that entails determining how the aging professionals transition to the corporate world in North America. The study will unravel how aging impacts performance in the corporate world, and will provide more information, and support or refute existing research in relation to aging in the work place especially at the top levels. On the other hand, it will also address the problem statement that entails examination of how aging professionals transition to the business corporate levels. More so, it will be determined whether age has an impact on a corporate manager’s performance. Doing so will allow the research study to address all aspects that relate to aging professionals who transition to the corporate world.

On the other hand, it was earlier asserted that aging comes with experience, and most aging managers and professionals are considered highly important in most organizations. The research study will also make a determination of this in line with the theoretical background that argues that aging professionals are able to transition to the corporate levels as they are considered experienced, and skillful especially in managerial activities. More so, the younger employees look up to them, and perceive them as more informed, skilled, and experienced. Notably, this is the basis upon which the literature review will be compiled while examining diverse, and recent research studies by other individuals. Doing so will help formulate a hypothesis that is informed by current research. It will be tested, and allow the researcher to address the existing gap.
