For this assignment select ten empirical, peer-reviewed research articles that are current and relevant to your dissertation topic. Provide a reference and an annotation (150-250 words) that includes important details about the article for each of the sources.

Annotations are descriptive and critical assessments of literature that help researchers evaluate texts and determine relevancy in relation to a research project. Ultimately, it is a note-taking tool that fosters critical thinking and helps you evaluate the source material for possible later use. Instead of reading articles and forgetting what you have read, you have a convenient document full of helpful information. An annotated bibliography can help you see the bigger picture of the literature you are reading. It can help you visualize the overall status of the topic, as well as where your unique question might fit into the field of literature.

Your sources should not be course materials, dissertations, books, reports, conference papers, legal documents, book reviews, editorials, newspaper articles, magazine articles, and other sources that are not peer-reviewed.

Degree

Provide a sentence identifying your degree program and emphasis area.

Research Focus

Provide one sentence that discusses how your topic area aligns with your degree and emphasis area.

Feasibility of Research Problem

Provide one sentence that justifies the feasibility of your proposed research project.

In RES 815 you discussed what is known, what needs to be known, and what is the significance of the potential problem you are investigating. Now you will organize this into different sections below. In this section, begin with the Problem Statement with a declarative problem statement based on the Identification of a problem space and your review of the literature in your field. Choose one of the formats below to write a one-sentence problem statement.

It is not known how or why…

Based on what is known in literature, _____ is still unknown/what still needs to be understood is…

While the literature indicates ____________, it is not known in (school/district/organization/community) if __________.

Need for Study

Next, discuss why this is an important problem that needs to be investigated, that is, what is the benefit of studying this specific problem? (150-250 words)

Conceptual/Theoretical Framework

In the articles that you selected review the conceptual or theoretical frameworks that the authors used. Choose the one that seem the most promising to use in your own research. Discuss how this framework shows potential for helping you to investigate your problem space. Using the reference page, what would be the seminal work that the author(s) used that relates to the theoretical framework. (150-250 words)

Significance

Choose one of the articles you selected and discuss how their findings were significant to their problem area. How might examining the significance sections of articles help you prepare to write this section of your own proposal? How do you think your study will be significant to your field? (150-250 words)

Defense of Article Selection

The selection of the articles you choose to include is essential in developing an understanding of the literature on your topic. Gaddis, M. L. (2020). Faculty and Student Technology Use to Enhance Student Learning. International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning, 21 (4), 39-60. https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1277091.pdf

Scholarly research has proved that adapting technology to facilitate and or teach a lesson promotes academic success and improves the quality of education learners are receiving. The goal of technology in education is to enhance learning among all learners and faculty. To be successful in improving learner’s ability to comfortably use technology, educators are encouraged to use technology in their classroom, however, the problem comes when the administration failed to explain and the education benefits of its use and this leaves teachers without solid evidence for its efficacy.

The best way to overcome the gap because faculty and the understanding of the use of technology is promoted a learning community among faculties in which they can share best practices and experiences during the use of technology in their classrooms. When the overall goal of successful use of technology in the classroom is achieved, it expands the technology knowledge between faculty and students by strengthen the 21st century skills in both groups.

Murati, R. & Ceka, A. (2017). The Use of Technology in Educational Teaching. Journal of Education and Practice, 8(6), 197-199. https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1133000.pdf

Now days technology is the way of life. Children are growing up learning how to use technology before they even start school, they are being naturally drawn to this way of communication at a very young age, so school and educational setting are to respond to the needs of students. Also, today it is nearly impossible for most profession to perform successfully without some assistant from information technology. Everywhere you turn has some sort of technology as a base of the organization.

Having computer and internet give the world endless possibilities and resources in improving the quality of work. Because of this 21st century requirement, computer skills and other equipment are needed for the simple fact that they create opportunities for teacher and inspire curiosity, imagination and interest of students. Teachers are inspired to use technology as a way of learning in their classroom and make it fun for students to adapt and learn in a creative environment.

Ally, M., Balaji, V., Abdelbaki, A., & Cheng, R. (2017). Use of Tablet Computers to Improve Access to Education in a Remote Location. Journal of Learning for Development 4(2), 221-228. https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1149172.pdf

A research was conducted to prove that using mobile technology can increase access to education among learners. The use of mobile technology can help deliver learning materials to learners and provide flexibility in gaining more knowledge and information. In the current era, mobile technology such as the use of tablets are more acceptable in motivating learners to learn. Especially in developing countries and remote areas where computers are still not easily accessible with limited access to internet and electricity, mobile technology with already installed educational applications to access internet and information are the way to bring education to students.

These mobile technologies can be recharged using other power sources such as solar and wind. Even in 21century some countries are on the verge of banning mobile technology, but instead of banning this amazing learning tools educators in these countries should be trained on how to use them effectively, so they can comfortably introduce their students to the proper way of using them.

Elmahdi, I. Al-Hattami, A. & Fawzi, H. (2018). Using Technology for Formative Assessment to Improve Students’ Learning. Turkish Online Journal of Education Technology. 17(2), 182-188. https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1176157.pdf

Technology can improve learning and add support for teachers during formative assessment. Providing in the moment feedback during formative assessment process, with the goal of improving learners’ performance is important for their learning progress and the teachers teaching. This is possible because students are motivated and encourage to learn through their passion to technology and digital tools. A number of studies have provided evidence that technology improves the methods of teaching, learning and assessment and in terns also positively impact the knowledge and skills of students.

When it comes to education, educators all around the world are continually striving to engage their students in formative assessment process to gauge understanding by using different techniques. This also provides educators an opportunity to assess their teaching and adjust as they need. With technology this process is a lot more friendly, and students are able to receive feedback as quickly as possible through scholarly application for formative assessment such as Kahoot, Recap and many more.

Serin, H. & Bozdag, F. (2020). Relationship between Teachers’ Altitudes towards Technology Use in Education and Autonomy Behaviors. Turkish Online Journal of Education Technology. 19(3), 60-69. https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1261402.pdf

With science and technology advancing daily, the use of technology in education continues to become more acceptable. This increase also bring up the importance of studies of educators’ altitudes towards the use of technology in education. Educators altitudes concerning technology use in the classroom do not change according to their gender, and or school type but instead this change happens according to their education level. Educators are required to close the gap by acquiring the necessary technology skills especially in secondary and higher education institution as this understanding is now becoming mandatory for educators.

The use of technology in education also brings various changes for all educators. This knowledge is as important for educators to have and are being incorporated in the professional competencies. The ability to successfully use technology is closely related to the competencies and attitudes of educators in the field. If and when they have the desire to intergraded the tool in their learning, then they get to have a more informative technology learning classroom.

Degree

My degree is Doctor of Philosophy in General Psychology with emphasis in Integrating Technology, Learning and Psychology.

Research Focus

Technology is the way of life especially now. With the understanding and the use of technology the world is able to continue to move even when we go through unfortunate moments. For example, covid19 pandemic came as a surprise, however, students must still learn, and educators must still teach classes. Thanks to technology we are able to still thrive during the hard times. My research will hopefully provide a positive link between technology and education success.

Feasibility of Research Problem

To ensure the feasibility of this research I will use qualitative research approach to prove that technology can be used to improve education. I will interview students and educators in different school districts to gain an understanding of “why” and “how” the use of technology has improved educators teaching and learners learning. I will also incorporate written form of research and literature in my findings successfully complete my dissertation.

Problem Statement

The issue addressed in this research is how to use technology to improve education. Technology is known to make life much easier especially now in the 21st century. Using technology in the classrooms, will improve students’ knowledge and higher-level understanding as they get through their education. It should not only be used in higher education but also k-12 should make it a priority. Kids are growing up these days learning their first words by the use of some technology, using this same mobile device in the classroom tend to motivate them to want to learn and be engaged.

Defense of Article Selection

After teaching overseas for the past six years I started to notice a gap between students learning and the use of technology in the classroom. Some educators are more worry that students will not be engaged during their lesson when they bring up technology as a tool to teach a lesson. This is simply not always correct, all around the world kids are using technology at a very young age. I found that in my elementary and high school classroom, my students tend to get excited when they have exams, or homework on their mobile pads because they get to use technology to complete them. I also notice that this excitement drives them to want to do their best work.

From the five articles I choose, I found that technology has improved learning, but educators must also be trained on the use of these technologies before the administration can expect them to successfully introduce them to their young learners. Some country still bans the use of technology, because the leaders see it as a tool that enables young learners to grow and think faster than their age. Some have no electricity so having mobile pads with already installed applications to complete schoolwork is vital.

With how the world just suddenly changed due to the pandemic we are experiencing; technology is the way to go. Students must still attend school, so the use of technology has increased in education. Technology another great tool that educators can use to give easy to understand and fast feedback to young learners on their progress. The five articles I mentioned above are important because they all summarized the use of technology to improve education among young learners and educators. This is something that is relevant especially now since everything seem to be going remote.
