Doctoral students need to be given academic assistance and autonomy support. They should be allowed to generate their ideas and implement them but should be guided on how to do it. Hence, they develop independence in carrying out research. A study done on a group of doctoral students showed that offering such support and guidance led to improved research efficacy. Besides, they assessed their supervisors Positively.
