· Discussion Board Assignments:

· This course uses graded discussion board postings as a means to facilitate classroom interaction. Always err on the side of professionalism when making a discussion board posting or a response to others students' discussion board postings. Respectful academic debate is encouraged; however, petty or unprofessional attacks or other violations of conduct will result in disciplinary action following the guidelines of student conduct as outlined in the  Student Handbook .

· For each week's discussion board posting, you are responsible for the creation of a well organized response which is similar to a strong body paragraph of an essay. As such, you must state a claim through a well-defined topic sentence, offer quoted evidence from the week's assigned readings, and explain how your evidence supports your claim. This response could be longer, but at least five well developed sentences are expected.

· After your initial posting, you are responsible for responding to two of your peers' initial postings. Your response should be three to five well written sentences. Be careful about your choice of language. Again, academic debate is encouraged; however, an academic debate is quite different from an emotional outburst. As such, your language must be clear and professional.
