Request for Proposal, RFP

Introduction

Tesla Inc, requests proposals for the development of an Enterprise Resource Planning system that is capable of integrating its business areas such as inventory, purchasing, sales, planning, finance, marketing, and human resources so as to enhance the operations of the company. All responsive bids must be received by May 18, 2017 at 8AM PT.

Requirements

Apparently, the ERP system will run on a SAP’s S/4 HANA platform through on-premise deployment. Therefore, developers must also develop SAP modules to include project system, quality management, production planning, plant maintenance, materials management, asset management, controlling, financial accounting, work flow, and sales & distribution.

Controls and security must be established so as to protect proprietary information while at the same time verifying that the company’s support staffs are granted access appropriately.

Special Requirements

As part of special requirements, project managers, at a minimum, must prepare and send weekly reports to the stakeholders. Equally, any increase in costs must be taken to stakeholders for approval before any further action is taken.

Selection criteria

Successful bidders must be those who implement the ERP system with a low possibility of delay. Also, such bidders must work within a given budget constraint unless a prior approval for additional costs is sought and granted. Equally, the successful bidder must implement the company’s standards through customization. Last but not the least a successful bidder must stay to offer consultation until subject matter experts are developed in all functional departments of the company’s business.

Location of Work

All work performed for Tesla will be began and implemented at the headquarters, which is located in Palo Alto, in the state of California.

Timelines and process

Apparently, the new ERP system’ implementation will begin officially on May 18, 2017. By the end of March 18, 2018, the implementation process will have completed. The implementers are expected to work from Monday through Friday between 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM. In that respect, the contractors are expected work a total of 40 hours per week handling all work on site.
