under them grow gentler as we move down. Social stratification in India nowadays is influenced
by not only the castes, but also by class. Although India's stratification was previously
significantly more pronounced, it is now far less than before.
India's existing societal and economic stratification is established on a historic framework
of social, societal and economic contrasts. The caste system is a social interacting network that is
thought to be inherited by origin. Gender, culture, class, geographic area, and other factors affect
this hierarchy and stratification. The caste system's task is to determine the correlation between
skin color and caste, the distinction between caste and ethnic group, the wider scope pattern of
inter-caste partnership precedence in different nations, patterns of socioeconomic mobility, and
developments in academic qualifications and their impact on caste in diverse Indian regions
(Jodhka, 2017). There was a gender disparity in the caste system, which was not seen as a bad
trait or idea, according to the research. Because of their diverse living situation, everyone in this
community was perceived differently.
While caste is a fundamental part of The indian culture, they often use class
(socioeconomic) cards, just like Americans. class and Caste are intertwined. For example, a
housekeeper might be successful in finding a wonderful job that isn't linked to mopping and
hence save money. The housekeeper can put his income to good use by raising a family and
schooling his youngsters to become medics and government officials. While some people are
born into riches, others work their way up to this position. One of the most important sets of role
cards in India is caste. The caste of a person is determined by their parents, and children inherit
their parents' positions and obligations. Indians receive a caste card when they are born. This
runs counter to prevailing notions of what constitutes a "good society." In India, it is also
possible to achieve political power regardless of background or social class (Velitchkova, 2021).
A person from the lower castes may have a great chance of winning elections and becoming a
member of the federal government. This is an influence system for achieving status.
Moreover, because of the majority of the population, this system has evolved over the
years. Adjustments to the caste structure were influenced by British control. This culminated in
some major changes that impacted a huge share of the population. In truth, the British were liable
for gradually streamlining Indian society's caste structure. The technology that was developed
and was also intended to be accessed by everybody. For example, schools, railways, hospitals,
and other utilities are used by everybody living in the same community. Alteration in rites and
norms are amongst the alterations made over time. It includes constraints such as marriages and
profession, as well as food sharing freedom. When these adjustments were enforced, however,
the older people found it harder to change from their old habit (Jodhka, 2017).
Although it was initially founded on hierarchical entitlement to employment and duties,
caste in India began to become the basis of discriminating claim to social advantages and status
with the passage of time. As a result, caste has inevitably become a primary factor of wealth,
academic performance, and health in Indian culture. People in India today are free pick their
learning based on what they like and the career trajectory they would want take. The second

outcome is that they have more flexibility in selecting their spouses, irrespective of caste. This
gave weight to the assumption that the old generation is straining to let go of the former. For a
number of years, they have persevered to their views, practices, and traditions. As a
consequence, they find it difficult to accept the elasticity and alterations to their beliefs that are
being imposed. Despite this amazing poverty reduction, studies have found expanding economic,
health, and educational inequities in the country (Velitchkova, 2021). The persistence of caste-
based variations in crucial healthcare outcomes in modern India, such as infant mortality
(original, least favored caste, and most entitled caste), is a sobering result from these published
findings.
The culture's parenting styles have also changed as a result of these alterations. Family
relationships, for example, are now being re-evaluated, and the norms for female involvement at
home, in school, and in community are altering. Women have been mistreated against in the past
because of all of these difficulties. Women nowadays have considerably more alternatives to
enhance and expand their lives and relationships that they choose, thanks to the way our
community is changing. Despite some reluctance from the millennial generation to these
adjustments, the society is gradually shifting for the best. Changes in cultural practices, religion,
education, and feminist's privileges in society are all dedicated to improving the ability of future
generations (Steger, 2017). This helps the sociocultural context to learn from previous failure and
make progressive changes in order to build a better destiny.
