because it is the one that inspires commitment of the religious community to support health
institutions. On the other postmodern relativism suggest that scientific research is the basis of
providing healthcare. Spiritual practices are extending beyond religion into the practice of
healthcare, including ethics. Christians believe that spirituality is the root of ethics in
healthcare, while postmodern perspectives believe that ethics means the decision to do the
right things and avoid doing the wrong things. In postmodernism, decision making is founded
on principles of justice, autonomy, and beneficence, while Christian ethics are based on the
Ten Commandments and other biblical teachings.
In both perspectives, ethics are meant to overcome the possibility of harmful
consequences. However, there is significant conflict between Christians and postmodernists
regarding treating people in deep suffering and those considering assisted euthanasia. While
Christians maintain that life is a gift from God that is to be preserved and only taken by God,
postmodernist belief that patients in deep suffering have the right to end their lives at their
will. Though not painful, Christians consider assisted euthanasia as a form of murder, which
is against God’s commandment. In Christianity, healing is God’s given, and medical
professionals are considered as God’s servants who are commissioned to treat people while
God command healing for those who have faith. Postmodernist relativism maintains that
healing sprawl from scientific efforts to produce conventional medicine based on scientific
research. Spiritual connection in healthcare is essential because it helps patients believe in
healing through prayer and by guiding them to maintain ethical practices.
Scientism
Scientism holds that science is the basis of absolute truths and knowledge about
nature. Under scientism, everything that happens in nature must have a scientific theory to
prove by means of scientific facts. Hughes (2012) suggests that scientific methods involve
laws and experimentations of nature to produce testable, reliable, and factual data. Scientism
highly disregards philosophy, humanities, and social sciences, which are not constructed
using scientific evidence. In recent years, the work of scientists has focused on obtaining
facts that would describe what was previously regarded as a mystery. Thus, scientism may be
precisely described as a scientific worldview that covers natural explanations for paranormal
speculations and supernatural phenomena and embraces purpose and empiricism as pillars of
philosophy. Researchers believe that science interprets all life aspects under scientism and
that scientific methods are the only certain elements that dominate philosophy, social
sciences, and humanities. It was derived from empiricism and held a close relation with
positivism, which holds that only authentic knowhow that is derived from positive assertion
of theories through accurate scientific methods.
Those who oppose scientism argue that scientism is self-annihilating because of the
opinion that only scientific theories are meaningful. Such a claim is also a scientific claim
that makes scientism meaningless on its own. Besides, scientism requires full abandonment
of philosophy, social science, and humanity discussions because they cannot be tolerated in
science. Such assertions are also limiting for a doctrine that is supposed to encompass all

way they are and not the way they want them to be. Also, the truth is reality, while falsity is
the absence of truth. Having understood that, ultimate reality describes all-inclusive, most
potent reality in existence, and where all things have their collective identity (Beckwith,
2015). Thus, in my worldview, ultimate reality refers to God. The Christian world refers to
the ultimate reality in different terms, including Yahweh, Jehovah, God, and Christ, or in
general, the transcendent reality. I view God as the creator of everything and distinct and
eternal from his creations and above the ultimate nature of mass, space, and time.
What is the nature of the universe?
In the Christian worldview, God created the universe ex nihilo (from nothing
physical). God is portrayed as the creator of everything seen and unseen. He created the
world from his word, and it came to a reality. In Genesis 1 and 2, God followed the order in
creating the world. However, the whole universe is an open system that is programmed as
God unfolds his eternal purpose each day (Datta, 2018). The universe and its components are
subject to reordering by the creator. Humans follow God’s order, and therefore their role is
invaluable. The universe is not an emanation of God’s being but separate from Him. The
physical world is a reality and a gift to be appreciated in an orderly manner. The result of not
following God’s order is death that infected the Human being when he sinned. Despite that,
God has promised an eternal destination for humanity when he redeems them from sin. The
eternal destination is an imaginary universe hidden from humans by God. The universe
manifests the greatness of the creator. Everything created is meaningful.
What is a human being?
Christian worldview explains the creation and the fall of man. Religious literature
specifies that humans are the only creations who God created in his likeness and own image.
For those reasons, humans should reflect part of God’s character. In Genesis 1 and 2, God

created humans from the material, the man from the soil, and the woman from the man’s rib.
He gave man his breath to give him life. Later in Genesis 2, man is charged to take care of
God’s creation and obey his commands. Therefore, man possesses natural dignity that was
accorded by God. This explains why Christians uphold values and shudder at abuse, stealing,
murder, adultery, prostitution, and all kinds of immorality. Human dignity reshaped when the
original humans disobeyed God, after which they were sent out of the blessed land. Despite

disciplines. The advocates of scientism tend to ignore essential arguments in that science does
not explain everything in reality.
What is the ultimate reality?
The world possesses uncountable complexities, all under the ultimate reality, which
transcends non-physical and physical dimensions of nature. Reality is the view of things the
their disobedience, humans understand nature, know God, live with each other, and are still
the focus of God’s salvation. Since the beginning, God has been looking to restore man from
sin. Jesus was sent by God to reset God’s image by dying for sinners. The man has been
restored by the love and the grace of the creator. When God decided to create someone who
looks more like Him than anything else among the creations, He made Human beings. We are
the results of his everlasting love and plan, infinitely intelligent and skillful creations. Despite
our sinful nature, we maintain the qualities of the creator. Thus, no matter their age, color,
disability status, gender, or ethnicity, every human should be pickled with dignity as bearers
of the image of God.
What is knowledge?
The human knowledge in the Christian worldview relates to knowing God as well as
the universe around them. The knowledge comes through God’s grace. As God is omniscient,
he grants his knowledge to help us understand him and our world. In the Christian life, God
can reveal himself through special revelation or general revelation. Under the special
revelation, his knowledge is revealed through Jesus Christ and His word. God reveals
knowledge in the general revelation via the created orderliness. In Christianity, people who
don’t know God are referred to as fools, while those who walk with God are recognized as
knowledgeable humans. God gives Christians an understanding of reality. The reality is the

nature of thought that fundamentally control the Christian life. It operates as a sift that
monitors the sensory signals and chooses what is tolerable to the Christian mind and should
be rejected based on being meaningless, unreal, irrelevant, or untrue.
What is your basis for ethics?
As Christians, our ethics are based on God’s teachings. Thus, ethical conduct in
Christianity pertains to obeying God’s commands and following the perfect example of Jesus
Christ. In Godliness, Christians find indefinite truth and absolute morality. The foundation of
Christian ethics is the bible teachings. Biblical teachings portray a God of transcendent nature
who sets standards of how he would like humanity to live and act as part of reconciliation
with humanity. God revealed his character through people who he chose to write his word on
the bible. I understand the Christian moral basis by reading the bible, where we understand
God’s character. Through his character, he has set a character that builds a standard of ethical
life. God is portrayed as holly and morally perfect, and therefore all Christians should follow
his example. For example, the Ten Commandments set moral standards to prevent murder,
theft, idol worship, coveting, and other acts that God considers immoral. Inside the spirit of
humans, God has put a conscience of understanding differentiating holiness from evil.
What is the purpose of your existence?
Our existence is a gift given to us by God to fulfill his purpose. God enables us to
reflect on our nature and integrity to understand his will. Fulfilling our life purpose is enabled
by God from who we received the breath of life. Our purpose is a gift that we often misuse
for prideful, selfish, and willful purposes. As we read from Genesis, God created Adam and

gave him a purpose; to guard the land, name creations, reproduce and multiply, and obey
God’s commands. Sin originated when humans disobeyed God and went against God’s
purpose. The story is especially meaningful for humanity in that Christians should decide

how to live with God. Our life purpose is to fulfill God’s purpose by showing love,
compassion, care, support, and goodwill to other creations. We are called to become
Disciples of Christ who walk by faith to follow Jesus. As a disciple, I am supposed to
abandon my selfish purpose and adopt the purpose of God.
