your family.

Tim: Hello, this is the birth father of Bob and Katie.

Linda: Hello, I am their mother.

Katie: Hello, this is the mother of Geoff at Bob's sister.

Geoff: (Wave) Katie: That's Geoff

Bob: (sighs deeply). This is my family!

Therapist: I'm glad everyone is here. Let's start with Elizabethan. You have raised and expressed

concern about this family. Can you start by explaining why you came?

Elizabeth: (sighs) Well, the last meeting happened as much as anything other than marriage, so I

didn't think much about our problems. I fell in love with Geoff, and he scared us all and almost

overdose the drug. Now Tim and Linda have joined her help, but Katie was shocked, and we

want to help her.

Therapist: It's great that you are here. It shows the power of the family and the support that helps

Geoff understand what is happening in life when he overdoses. How did everyone help?

Linda: Well, I contacted the school counsellor and found an additional curriculum to help him

find what he liked.

Tim: I took him on a hike! But that only upset Katie.

Katie: Yes, yes, Tim, but against my will (shaking her head)

Therapist: it's significant to see the family get together and help. We all know that we have the

best intentions and want Geoff. Is Elizabeth helping family attacks solve the problem?

Elizabeth: I say five because everyone wants to help, but it creates tension in the family and can

shift the focus from Geoff to other family issues.

Therapist: This is true. I want to focus on the solutions we can find to help Geoff and what we

can do to take it one step further. From 5 to 6? And finally, what can we do to get 10 points on

the scale and what resources are available? Geoff, I haven't heard much today ... can you tell me

what should change as a result of my conversation with me today?

Geoff: Not sure if you'll stop using the drug and be happy with your life?

Therapist: I see. It turns out that this is a positive behavior that needs to be changed. What does it

take to stop using the drug?

Geoff: I'm not sure. I don't know the answer. If you can't find it, you're taking medicine, so don't

worry.

Therapist: All right, Geoff, I don't think I'll answer right away. That's why your family is

here today to find ways to support you. They treasure you and want the best for you. Geoff, let

me ask you one question. What if a miracle happened when I woke up tomorrow? How can it

help you stop taking medicine and find happiness in your life?

Geoff: If I woke up tomorrow and my dad was alive, it would be a miracle ...and I

wouldn't be sad, I wouldn't feel lonely, and I wouldn't need any medicine to help me overcome

my sadness.

Therapist: Wow, that's a great answer. I'm proud to have recognized why I used the drug, how I

felt when I used it, and what I needed to do to avoid it. I want to work with you individually to

help you find some coping skills. We also encourage you to attend a group counseling session

for our teenage group dedicated to dealing with grief.

VARGAS FAMILY CASE STUDY 4

The family therapy session is over, and Katie and Geoff agree that one-on-one consultation is

best for him, and our first session will take place in two weeks.

Part 2

I decided to write this letter to Geoff. Because he committed suicide, his father died, his

mother lacked his life, and he was a teenager dealing with all this negative energy. After three

sessions with Geoff, this is my storytelling theory letter.

I am very pleased that you are devoted to treatment, and I wanted to write you a letter about

your success, and also touch on some of the things you told me I wanted to. He told me how it

was in the last three years since my dad died and how he felt about taking his own life. I wanted

to tell you how brave you are, that you acknowledge your fears and reveal your feelings to me.

You are so brave and strong that you want to wake up every morning to see what is given to you

every day. I am very pleased that you have decided to continue treatment and are participating in

group counselling. The more you attend the session and speak, the more you will benefit.

You said that the support system has disappeared since your father died. But after you

committed suicide, you saw your family gather to take care of you. You didn't realize they care,

so you made you laugh in even their fight over you. This support will help you in the face of

difficult times in the future. Trust yourself and your coping skills, and trust your support system.

I know my dad won't come back, but he says he's lonely without him, so I hope the support

group can rest assured. He wants you to know that he feels nature, but he can find and meditate

on nostalgic memories. It may not be able to get rid of your pain, but you can find activities to

focus on when you need more than memories to cherish your father's life. I would like you to

express your feelings at the moment when you think about reuse. I hope you keep a diary and

write only for the next few weeks! Write about your feelings when thinking about the drug, what

you do, and how you feel about using the drug. By reviewing the entries in this diary, I can help

you replace the drug with another solution, activity, or something else you might like, such as

your favorite candy. I will.

There are several activities together. Next week, I'd like to help you find a positive way

to relieve your daily stress and at the same time enjoy it. We look forward to helping you create

new stories of hope, love, family support, and happiness.
