Summary

Various amendments have been made to the United States Constitution since its adoption. These include elections and certain freedoms enjoyed by citizens. These freedoms tend to interact at some point and they cannot work effectively independently. In this paper, I will discuss in-depth, these amendments to the constitution. I will also conduct a thorough analysis of the various stakeholders involved in the election process in the United States. These include federal authorities and congress among others. I will also conduct a thorough analysis of the policy that has been put in place to reduce the impact of coronavirus on economic growth. Lastly, I will conduct an analysis of the audience for my speech.

Election policies

Introduction

The United States adopted its constitution in 1787. The constitution outlines the freedoms of citizens as well as the regulations that were required to maintain law and order (LII, 2010). Several amendments have been made which have changed the interpretation and application of the constitution. An example of an amendment that has been made to the constitution is the election of the president and the vice-president (LII, 2020). The freedoms of religion and expression have also been amended. People have the freedom to exercise their religion provided it does not yield hatred or incitement. The government is also required to remain neutral in religious matters (LII, 2020. Freedom of speech and the press have attracted too much debate in the recent past. The press is tasked with the passing of information and so when analyzing information about the government, it should consider the sensitivity of the government. Freedom of speech does not however take into consideration the sensitivity of the government. Social media has provided citizens with platforms to express their freedom of speech. This has necessitated regulations to limit what people share on social media. These freedoms tend to interact as freedom of speech would not be powerful without freedom of the press. Similarly, without freedom of assembly, freedom of petition would not be effective. Although the freedoms in the first amendment are still applicable, they ought to be adjusted as per the changes in the society so that they can address real issues facing the people.

Identification of Stakeholders

One of the major concerns facing congress due to technological advancement is the issue of security policy. Initially, the eligibility of voters would be justified by election administrators so that elections would be free and fair. This is different today as authorities need to be prepared to respond to security issues that may arise during the campaign and election period (Pol’y, 2016). For this to be achieved, several stakeholders have to be involved.

Federal authorities

These ensure that there is no domestic political subversion. Federal authorities have been engaged to help prevent possible future ripples (Pedriana, 2017).

Agency stakeholders

They advise the Electoral Administration Commission on various issues. The department of defense stakeholders provides intelligence services to ensure that any threats to the election process can be tracked. They work together with homeland security to protect presidential aspirants and improve cybersecurity (Robinson, 2019).

The federal bureau of investigations

It investigates any election crimes and guided by the state department, deals with any election misinformation. Together with the treasury department, it counters any interferences to the elections and also investigates foreign hindrance (Rofe, 2017).

Election assistance commission

It supervises the voting process and program certification. It also provides direction on the election.

Federal election commission

It formulates finance laws that are supposed to be followed during elections. It works together with the intelligence community to assess any foreign efforts to influence elections (Tejada, 2017).

Congress

It supplies finances to ensure that the system of election is secure both to state as well as territorial dominion.

Policy

Policy problem

The Coronavirus pandemic has affected the country's economy a great deal. A lot of money has been used to manage the effects of the pandemic such that fallout trades between the United States and other countries and the consequent economic growth has gone down. This policy will therefore enable the government to rise from this situation to achieve stability in the current elections through increased economic growth (Sharif et al, 2020).

Policy outcomes

Resources to mitigate coronavirus have been put in place in the medical field thus reducing the number of vulnerable households. Policies to regulate taxation have enabled the market to gain stability leading to economic growth. Due to these policies, the economy has started to rise and money is expected to continue circulating which will lead to economic growth.

Policy performance

Business growth has led to increased revenue which has in turn led to the rise of per capita. The economy will soon get back on track which will in turn increase the demand for services.

Policy futures

Alternative policies can be used to regulate spending and prevent economic downfall. These policies can prevent the freefall of the economy and enable it to recover fast. The fiscal policy will aggregate demand which will in turn influence the need for goods and services. These will help the economy to get back on track and that it continues to grow even in the occurrence of similar situations (Cukierman, 2016).

Policy actions

Enabling expansion of business by removing trade barriers can help solve this problem. Reducing conflicts with other nations by reducing the number of troops placed there will reduce the budget and divert economic growth elsewhere. The lending ability of the federal government should be reduced so that the money can be directed to economic growth (Immergluck, 2016).

Audience Analysis and Adaptation

Audience analysis

The audience of this speech are people 18 years and above (minimum age for voting). This speech aims to persuade them to understand the election policy of the United States. This speech will use simple language to make it more understandable. There are no unique demographic characteristics required for the speech audience. A public address system will be used to cater to the large audience. The audience consists of people both with and without knowledge of election issues. The audience had a great interest in the topic, a positive attitude, and were supportive.

Reaching the audience

I began with a controversial tweet about elections to draw their attention. I then explained the possible issues that the policies in place will address. The main points were the impacts of election policy issues and coronavirus. I used several reliable sources as my support materials. I used a considerable pace in delivery and made adjustments to communicate ideas more effectively.

Conclusion

Various amendments have been made to the United States Constitution since its adoption. These include elections and certain freedoms enjoyed by citizens. There are various stakeholders involved in elections and they include among others, federal authorities, and the audience. The coronavirus pandemic has affected economic growth and a policy has been put in place to enhance economic growth. I have conducted a deep policy analysis in my course progression. I have also conducted an expansive analysis of the audience for my speech.
