What barriers nurses encounter in lifestyle counseling to patients with type 2 diabetes?

Some defining characteristics of qualitative research include; a focus on words instead of numbers and on understanding giving meaning to a phenomenon or an event (Schmidt & Brown 2018). This means that the researcher uses certain words to achieve results for the question being asked, in this case "what barriers" will be the focus. Schmidt further explained that there are several types of qualitative research. Here are four examples (i) Phenomenological research, (ii) Grounded theory, (iii) Ethnography and (iv) Historical (2018).

To achieve this information, it is my belief that an in-depth interview with nurses, will provide the data needed to address the question. There are three ways to collect data for a qualitative research: in-depth interviews, direct observations and artifacts. Schmidt (2018) highlights that the interview is one of the most common ways that qualitative researchers collects data. The interview would be good because the information is being collected from a participant in the counseling session, the information they provide can determine if and where the barrier is and how it can be improved.

Does Medical marijuana work better for patients with attention deficit disorder(ADD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) compared to using medication Medical Marijuana herbal medicine that is grown without adding pesticides compared to that of a laboratory fabricated medication. According to the qualitative research study they used online forums that were specifically related to discussions on cannabis use on ADHD, at least 25% of individual posts indicated that cannabis is therapeutic for ADHD, 8% said it was harmful and 5% said was harmful and therapeutic and 2% saw no effect. (Mitchell et al., 2016) In the conclusions there are no clinical recommendations or signs of therapeutic use for ADHD. Qualitative research is known to be a way to be able to observe and document how something works in everyday life according to individuals, groups, and cultures, this includes how behavior, feelings, and experiences of people and how they live their lives. “Qualitative researchers focus on “emic” perspective the “inside” of the people involved in the research and their perceptions, meanings and interpretations” (Halloway & Galvin, 2016) The types of qualitative research include Phenomenological research, grounded theory, ethnography, historical. (Schmidt & Brown, 2017) The study was based on online forum discussions based on the effect of marijuana instead of medicine, I would base it on historical study since it has already happened and it is being observed on an online forum.
