Classmate- The best explanation for the causes of deviance is the exercise of power. Being able to “intentionally harm people psychologically, to hurt people physically, to destroy people mortally, or ideas, and to commit crimes against humanity”.
I believe that the suggestion on the banality of heroism is a realistic remedy for such deviance. Children grow up with the ideas of characters like Superman or Wonder Woman and they aren’t shown what realistic superheroes are, like firemen, police, or even a local homeless man can be. I personally believe that if children grow up with more realistic expectations of what a hero is, they can aspire to be one themselves. They can grow to be adults that want the world to be a better place and lower the rates of deviance.
