Evidence based practice is a great way for nurses to implement interventions that have been proven to be effective and have positive outcomes for example at my job, we use the EBP of infection control for hospital acquired infections. The way in which this is performed is through hand washing frequently and washing hands before and after patient contact. It is also important to implement the proper precautions when dealing with infectious diseases. An example of an HAI is catheter associated urinary tract infection, which is why is it important to practice sterile technique when inserting a urinary catheter (Taha et al., 2017).

In the referenced article it mentions the use of multiple interventions to prevent CAUTI as a quality improvement program, they found with implementation of this there was a reduction in the number of infections. The multistep process involved having catheter bedside reminders, creating a educational campaign for members of the interdisciplinary team, having a catheter protocol for orders, discontinuation and providing catheter removal care (Theobald et al., 2017).

Hi Everyone,

Evidence-based practices are a modern approach to patient care emphasizing problem-solving approaches that consider the patient's needs, preferences, and values. It is defined as “an integration of the best evidence available, nursing expertise, and the values and preferences of the individuals, families and communities who are served” (Huston, 2013). The practices cover all nursing roles and responsibilities. At the clinic, evidence-based practices are used to care for patients in the emergency room.

In the emergency room, the majority of patients are asked routine inquiries regarding their medical history. Nurses use evidence-based procedures during triage by asking specific questions regarding the patient's medical well-being, preferred medicine, and treatment's social or religious consequences. The method allows the ill to express their opinions regarding the form of treatment and share their most liked options. The information helps the medical practitioner to give the patient personalized care; it also provides the invalid with a feeling of contentment. Having the medics attend to their needs in a specialized manner allows patients to gain confidence in hospitals.

Healthcare companies employ quality improvement projects to investigate, monitor, and improve the quality of the services they provide. The strategy focuses on gathering and sharing data about present systems and areas that need to be improved. A survey conducted at the hospital revealed that the dentistry and optical divisions lacked basic supplies. Patients complained about having to wait in line for long periods of time before being seen, as well as the need for new technology to speed up the process. The facility was able to pinpoint an issue that needed their attention thanks to the comments they received. The quality of service is also improved from the feedback shared.
