Hello Class,
1. Adaptability-which stated that I live in the moment and expect circumstances to arise, but am able to meet those demands of everyday and stay productive.
2. Connectedness-This theme stated that I am considerate, caring, and accepting of others and the I build bridges for people of different cultures. I am also sensitive and give comfort with purpose and have a strong faith.
3. Belief-This theme stated that I have core values that are enduring, am family-oriented, altruistic, spiritual, and value responsibility and ethics in people and in myself.
4. Empathy-This theme stated that I often feel what people are feeling and that I see and understand what others are going through.
5. Responsibility-This theme stated that I am unable to settle for not giving my best when I give my word and that I will seek to find ways to make sure that I do my best because excuses are not acceptable (Clifton Strengths, 2021) .
These themes are correct in the way that I live my life, however, they are not listed by the level of importance to me. I believe that circumstances have shaped me to be who I am today and that I have grown so much as a person and a leader. To be an effective leader, we must acknowledge our weaknesses and overcome those weaknesses (Center for Creative Leadership, 2020). I strive to be the best person in all that I do because of the strong values and beliefs that I have in God and in myself. I believe in family second (after God), and then friends. My work ethic comes from my belief that I am not of this world, but of God and because of that belief, I have to do my best and try not to put extra work on others. My job is about making a difference in other peoples life and trying to help as many as I can.
With this assessment I am aware that accountability, while listed as my first theme, is actually in third place, behind belief and connectedness. These values relate to what I value the most, and that is God and people. These are also my strengths. I also love that empathy and responsibility are in the top 5 because these are also strengths. I believe that I am empathetic towards others and that it is my need and desire to use that empathy to affect change in others. Whether I see a person at work or in a store, I always want to be able to see when someone is having a bad day and ask them are they okay. I have areas that I need to work on after taking this assessment including, not taking time for myself and sometimes not being as transparent with others. I realize that I don't share myself with others the way I let others share with me and that is something that I need to work on.
