Hello,

I hope everyone is having a great week. In my opinion the planning phase is going to have the largest impact if the project is going to be successful or not. Any shortcoming in the planning phase is going come to life in the execution phase. The Planning phase consist of

● Statement of Work ● Work Breakdown ● Task List ● Schedule ● Budget ● Communication Plan ● Risk Plan

Using the seven elements will not only help develop the scope of the project but have a clear path forward. Most project failures are from lack of communication and lack of ownership. Establish a clear communication plan and who own each phase of the project will make the project successful, and updates on budget so when problems occur the team can get in front of the problem before it risks the outcome of the project.

Thanks

Ryan

Hello Classmates,

Our module two, chapter three reading states that a procurement management plan is comprised of seven steps, all of which then reduce down into many more project activities and tasks, with the planning phase being the most vital. The entire PMP is to be viewed as a roadmap to successful completion of the procurement goal. This roadmap also consists of seven components, procurement priority, statement of work, task list and work breakdown structure, schedule, budget, communications plan, and risk plan (Lindstrom, 2015). To me, the level of effectiveness of each procurement component, really depends on the initial detail written into each one, during the planning phase. They seem to be designed to work hand in hand with one another so it’s hard to decide which component has the biggest impact on project procurement success! I feel that careful, focused, and effective planning really needs to go into the planning of the procurement task list, work breakdown structure, and schedule. If certain tasks/activities are missed during this planning phase, when the project goes live, this will negatively impact the schedule, which could then result in throwing the pre-defined project budget out of alignment….a type of domino effect plays out that has the potential to negatively impact the success of the PMP.
