Refugee Crisis in Europe

A refugee is a person who is forced to leave homeland to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster (Unrefugees.org, 2018). Due to warfare in various surroundings such as Syria, Europe is facing a crisis of extraordinary large migration of humans first time in history. This migration has caused crisis instead of blessings for Europe due to certain issues and requirements such as food, accommodation, healthcare, security anxieties, poverty, economic viability, instability across borders and many more. The refugees are endangering their lives in broken boats and confined containers for migration. European refugee crisis has emerged as an international crisis. An International Rescue Committee (IRC) is assisting and helping refugees on basis of evidence and data collection including donations (International Rescue Committee, 2018). There are over 1.8 million refugees and immigrants in the European Union from battle and fear in Syria and other disturbed countries (Henley, 2018).EU is facing it as a factual crisis and have taken numerous measures for it including efforts for solving dispute in surroundings, legislation, humanitarian aid, development support, safeguard services near seashore, EU borders protection, transposition, relocation, conveyance, agreement with Turkey, Italy and Libya, controlling irregular migration with border fences, and lot more (Henley, 2018).

I have selected the picture because it is shocking to see helpless refugees without proper safety and security on waves of the sea. The photo is self-descriptive concerning political and social implications. It shows refugees and migrants are helped by volunteers as they arrive in Lesbos in Greece.

These steps can be replicated at EU for settlement of refugees.
