Careers and Qualitative Research Skills
Six significant learning goals undergird the Fall 2022 COMN 2200 course curriculum, learning activities, and assessments.
Goal #5 is:
“Understand the significance of qualitative research and consider its role in future academic and professional pursuits. (caring learning goal).”
In pursuit of learning goal #5, during Week 7/8, guest speakers, Tony Dubitsky and Ren Vettoretto, Aristocrat Technologies Inc, Las Vegas NV, will address careers and qualitative research skills. To tailor their talk to you, they have requested student responses to two prompts.

Week Two Instructions for Evaluating your Discussion Participation
*Goal: Evaluating how seriously you are trying to live out the conditions of critical conversation.
Keep notes of your specific discussion behaviors.
Becoming aware of diversity: Variety perspectives? Non-mainstream views? Bringing attn to topics avoiding? Students discussing across gender, race, class, occupation, ideology, and so on?
Appreciating ambiguity and complexity: open-ended? Respect for complexity of issues? Class raise ?s for you? More ?s than answers? Class stimulate further inquiry and reflection?
