1. (first week)

Through this week,i learned a lot of things about the academic writing. Academic convention is a set of scholarly standards, and the aim is to make the writing presentable and readable. There are five  features if U.S. academic writing. For example, respond to the ideas of others, problem-centered, author-driven, direct and argumentative. I believe that i will learn a lot in this class.

Last week, we talked about an online article called The "other side" is not dumb. In this article, the author mentioned how some people always think about how their own opinion is right and don't think why other people would think the opposing side . This article helps people to review and reflect on what kind comments that they did on the social media, what consequences could cause because of their comments.  The article helps me to revise and correct my ideas, and always think about others without prejudice.

This week,we talked about synthesis. On Monday, we talked about the meaning of synthesis. And on Wednesday, we watched a video called "Rich and poor seek to understand each other". In this video, there are some similarities between poor and rich people in some cases. Everyone has a different view of each cases, for example some people think money is power. Because money can help you buy a lot things, includes some people. But some people said money can't buy you love. It is a very interesting point for me to think about it.

This week, we read 3 sources and we talked about how them connect with each other. Also we learned to how and why we quote. The first step is deciding what to quote. The second step is framing the quotation. The third step is templates for introducing quotations. The fourth step is templates for explaining quotations.

5.

This week, I learned how to quote a citation. Also, the teacher introduced the project 4 to us.  Project 4 is our last project, so it will harder than others. In this paper, I need to do the research for this project.  On Friday, we go to the Avery Hall to do the research. the teacher gave us a website and it is very helpful.
