50 Hour Reflection

A Summary of Work Duties and Experiences

For my internship, I work at IDPH as an immunization registry helpdesk intern. Regarding my work duties, I work on I-CARE, a web-based immunization record sharing application that permits public and private medical care suppliers to share the vaccination records of Illinois inhabitants with different doctors statewide. Furthermore, I manage the supplier enrolment measure. Through the Registry, I add to the determination of customers with predefined occupations. The chose gatherings can submit and acquire immunization information for patients. To protect the abuse of patient data, the Registry will deny the clients from being admitted and gaining access to this information.

Regarding my experience, the IDPH is presently dealing with the Covid-19 vaccination plan in the State of Illinois. My association is working together with CDPH to work with the smooth execution of the immunization at both city and state levels. I have acquired involvement with this see as a GPSI understudy where I have given medical care suppliers patients' vaccination records consistently by means of email. I have likewise kept up the association's inclusion level report for both the Covid-19 immunization and influenza shots. Other great experiences I have had at IDPH have been our participation in racial equity book club webinars and Martin Luther King Day.

Reflections on the Experiences and their Relevance toward Fulfilling the Learning Objectives and Core Competencies Described in the Learning Agreement

The experiences I have had so far have been significantly relevant to fulfilling the learning agreement’s core competencies and learning objectives. Regarding the learning objectives, the learning agreement outlined several internship objectives that this opportunity at IDPH would offer me. Specifically, the objectives of the program include providing technical support to I-Care Staff and Users of the State registry, processing of emails from Medical providers trying to obtain access to the State Registry to the general public requesting Immunization records, assisting ICARE staff with the enrollment of new users into ICARE, and facilitation of the logistics surrounding the access to the Covid-19 vaccines. Looking at the work duties, which I have done so far, it is clear that the internship program has been successful so far in ensuring all learning objectives have been met.

Regarding core competencies I acquire information about the vaccination program and the Vaccine for Children program VFC, too the diverse financing sources used for those portions. Looking at antibody allotment and organizations at both a provincial and a Statewide level. This examination will assist with deciding the inclusion level inside a topographical locale. Add on to that ICARE staff Remind and advise patients o due dates, record and inform patient contraindications, unfriendly responses and any resistances. ICARE is successfully able to help school medical attendants and other medical services suppliers to keep up the vaccination records according to CDC and Illinois state law. I can utilize this experience at my future workplace to facilitate positive public healthcare outcomes.

One important competency is the one about inter-professional practice. I have learned how a single mistake in one department can have devastating effects on the whole healthcare industry. Therefore, it is crucial that each individual does his/her work efficiently to ensure that no other professionals are negatively affected as they serve the public. In this context, I take my role of communicating with multiple health providers via email very seriously. Since I am responsible for aiding them to have access to the ICARE database, I have to ensure that everything goes smoothly and according to protocol to ensure that all patients will be served well by their respective healthcare providers. Another competency that I have taken a keen interest in is the one about planning and management to promote health. As an intern, I have played a vital role in keeping track of the vaccination program. This is vital in ensuring that the vaccination records of each patient are known to ensure that any additional doses required per patient are known and planned for in advance.

Concerns about the Progress of the Internship

I think having this internship during a pandemic has worked in my favor. The organization has been very busy during this difficult period to ensure healthcare services in the state are offered with high efficiency. Taking care of the standard healthcare concerns, in addition to the Covid-19-related issues means that the organization has been very busy. Since every worker is stretched, more responsibilities are being given to interns. Therefore, as an intern, I have gained a lot of experience that I would not have received had there not been a pandemic. I have been impressed by the trust that the organization has put in me by giving me vital tasks that are important for the smooth running of the organization.

My Work Plan for the Next 50 Contact Hours

For the next 50 contact hours, my work plan however will be the same. However, I plan to be more inquisitive on issues that I feel I have little knowledge or experience in. As an assistant I will focus on state's new complete wellbeing program which focuses on heart wellbeing attention to help improve wellbeing while at the same time supporting medical care assets to keep a decent general wellbeing just as mass inoculation and unite information.
