ReflectionPaperAssignment-Fall20187.docx

These papers are designed to help you articulate what you are learning about film.

Requirements:

· Type a paper roughly one page in length (using 1” margins and 12 point double-spaced type).

· Although this is not a formal paper (with a thesis sentence, etc.), I want you to consider each assigned topic before you begin writing the paper.

The Reflection:

· What I am looking for you to do is connect what you are learning about the construction of films and the film industry to the following assigned topics:

· Reflection Paper 1: How has what you have learned thus far in the film course enhanced your enjoyment of your favorite film (not necessarily a film we have watched in class)?

· Reflection Paper 2: What has been your favorite film we have watched in class, why that film, and how has your increased knowledge of film been a part of your enjoyment of the selected film?

· For both papers connect subjects discussed during lecture or in the book with the assigned topic.

· Provide specific examples as support.

· The most important questions you can ask yourself is what? and how?-- What have I learned to change my perception of film? How can I use this knowledge in my current and future enjoyment of film?

Tips:

· I am looking for you to discuss more than the movie was “cool” and this is why.

· Please do not offer a summary of the plot as part of your discussion. Just talk to me on the above subjects.

· CITE any sources in endnotes, footnotes, or parenthetical notes with a bibliography.

· I will be submitting your papers to turnitin.com to check for plagiarism.

· If you include observations that are not “general knowledge” or that are not your own conclusions, then you MUST tell me where it came from.

· Even if this is your paraphrase of someone else’s ideas IT NEEDS TO BE NOTED.

· If you provide information which I know is not your own and you do not provide proper citation, you will earn a 0 on the assignment.

· MAKE SURE YOU PROOFREAD YOUR PAPER.-- A paper full of misspelled words or vague, awkward sentences DOES interfere with your overall argument and will be graded accordingly.
