Reflection of Cloud Computing:

As cloud-computing starts to take hold, a number of significant advantages have turned out to be evident. The first one of these, and perhaps the most important, is the costs. The cloud claims to decrease the price of obtaining, providing, and sustaining computing power, a gain of specific significance during times of financial hardship. By allowing agencies to buy just the computing solutions required, rather than purchasing complicated and costly IT infrastructures, companies can lower the expenses of creating, screening, and sustaining brand new as well as current systems. The next most important aspects within cloud computing is accessibility or simply access. The cloud guarantees universal use of high-powered storage as well as computing solutions for any individual having a network accessibility device. By supplying such functions, cloud-computing assists to help telework projects, in addition to strengthen an agency's continuity of operations (COOP).

Cloud computing works on the same principle and has several advantages such as, a) users tap into the utility, just as we tap into an electrical grid. b) There are cost savings. Information technology (IT) departments can meet user demands without worrying about capital expense (servers), software licensing, and the labor involved in upgrading and maintaining software. c) Scalability allow for an IT department to provide users with access to services when they need them and use them. Education and the field of teaching can benefit from cloud computing because it creates accessibility. How great would it be if a student could complete an assignment at home by accessing their cloud account? Teachers would have the flexibility to scaffold and differentiate all learning types via cloud computing. In a survey involving 1,200 IT professionals from the federal, state, and local governments: health care organizations, and k-12 institutions, more than 37 percent have adopted some form of cloud computing. 8 percent of those using cloud computing said they successfully save 21 percent.

During the course of this class, I believe that my positive attitude towards difficult situations has helped me overcome many problems. When I started my individual topics, I reviewed several similar projects from last year. After reading their reports, I gained deep understanding about the Cloud computing, but I was getting worried about what are some new materials I should include in my slices and my final report. I didn’t give up or get frustrated. Instead, I start doing research step by step.

After several weeks I had done a lot of researches and read many academic papers, so I was able to narrow down my Cloud computing topic into a specific small area. And found a new perspective to introduce Cloud computing technology which is its applications in the agriculture industry. Finally, after many struggles, discussions and more research, I was being able to combine my studies and tell a logic story about the Cloud computing for Small and Medium enterprises.

I myself also gained a deeper understanding about the Cloud technology. I really like how through this learning process I started out knowing nothing about a certain topic, but by the end of the semester I had become an expert on my topic and was able to share my knowledge with other people at the end of semester. In addition, the knowledge and research skills I gained from this experience will help me in the future whenever I need to learn new things.
