Read: Chapters 4 and 5 in Living Against the Grain, "Practice Kinship," and "Love Freely."
As you read notice the categories of intellectual, moral, and spiritual conversion that the author describes.
· And intellectual conversion can be understood as a fundamental idea that alters the way you look at the world. (e.g. the world is flat vs. the world is round)
· A moral conversion can be understood as a fundamental change in understanding what is the good, or truly human way to live. (e.g. it’s all about my happiness vs. it’s all about caring for others)
· A spiritual conversion can be understood as a fundamental change and how one understands their relationship to God or a higher power. (God is an account measuring out my good versus evil deeds vs. God is a loving parent who loves me unconditionally)

A. Take some time to enter into silence, ask for the gift of light or of God's wisdom, call to mind changes that you have noted in other people's lives using the categories of intellectual, moral and spiritual conversion. Try to focus your reflection on significant changes that you have observed and how people think, act, and pray.
B. Take some time to reflect upon your own conversions intellectually, morally, or spiritually.

· What do you see as the unique elements in the various types of conversions that you have noted?
